President Donald Trump said Wednesday that leakers of sensitive military information should “go to jail or be shot.”

“In my opinion, leakers should be shot,” Trump said at a rally in Bullhead City, Arizona. “In the old days, we used to shoot leakers, you know, when they leak what time you’re going to attack a country.”

Trump’s strong statement followed his description of a planned raid on Iran that was delayed after somebody “leaked the time we were leaving, the time we were arriving.”

“Somebody leaked—some sleazebag,” Trump said. “They ought to go to jail and be shot. For the rest of their life, They should be in jail. But they leaked that we were leaving at 12:07 from Missouri, and it was in the New York Times, CNN.”

“They leak false information,” he said. “That makes them a leaker, right?”

Trump spoke in Arizona as part of his 32-day “midterm blitz” tour around the country. On Tuesday and Wednesday, he travelled to Alaska and Nevada, then to Arizona and Montana.

In April, Trump threatened to force a news organization to turn over the name of an anonymous source who revealed details about a U.S. airman who went missing in Iran.

“We’re looking very hard to find that leaker,” Trump said in a press briefing. “They didn’t know there was somebody missing until this leaker gave the information. So whoever it was, we think we’ll be able to find it out because we’re going to go to the media company that released it, and we’re going to say, national security, give it up or go to jail.”
