Girls on the cross-country running team at Camas High School in Washington state walked off the course after their school officials assigned a boy, who had been competing on the boys team, to their squad.

Tonight in Washington state, nearly half the Camas High School girls cross country team refused to compete against a boy on their own team. He switched from the boys’ team just one month ago. Now he’s placing in every meet. Courage always wins. @xx_xyathletics Footage: @KnownHeretic

🚨
BREAKING: Nearly half of a Washington state girls cross country team walked off the starting line rather than race a biological male who switched to the girls team in the middle of the season. Two runners who staged their own walkout told Fox they painted “Keep women in women’s sports” down their legs. Charlie Garrett: “He’s taking a spot from every single girl that lines up on that line.” Per Fox, this athlete finished 76th in the boys JV race. Four days later he finished first in girls varsity. These girls are braver than every adult who signed off on this.

It is RedState that revealed the meet against Battle Ground High shows “how simple, yet powerful, their protest was.”

“They simply walked off the course when the starting gun sounded. While other runners began the race, the girls headed toward a nearby line of trees, reportedly joined by one girl from Battle Ground. And it’s the optics that really tell the story here: the unnamed male athlete towers above the girls as they line up for the race.”

The report said the boy “apparently moved to the girls team about a month ago and has been placing in every competition since making that move, essentially stealing those victories from a female athlete.”

RedState continued, “You’ll notice that the girls handled their protest in a dignified manner. No crying, no screaming, no overwrought signs. They just walked off their course and let their absence do all the talking.”

Kevin Burns, whose daughter daughter Holly is on the team, said, “The more I heard about her friends wanting to do something, the more I heard about her team wanting to do something, we definitely were in support of that. We told her, do what you think is best.”

The report explained the boy involved was 76th in a junior varsity race in early September, then switched to the girls’ team and was second among 195 runners at the Nike Portland XC Invitational on Sept. 26.

He won a race against Union High School later, the report said.

“Tellingly, the boy’s performance at a recent invitational would have placed him dead last in the corresponding elite boys’ race.”

Nearly half the girls’ cross-country team in Camas, Washington forfeited their race because they refused to run against a biological boy. This particular trans athlete started the year on the boys’ team and finished a pathetic 76th in a JV race, then switched to the girls’ team last month. He has since taken first place in a varsity meet and finished second in a different invitational.

The school district also attacked with a trespass notice the father of one of the runners after he carried a sign that it was not OK for a male to “steal” an opportunity from a girl.

BREAKING: The father of a female cross-country runner has been served a criminal no trespass order by the Camas School District. Joel Retzlaff held up a sign in protest over his daughter having to race against a boy. https://t.co/EerQXsEBeY

Nearly half of the Camas girls’ cross-country team stepped off the course rather than race against a boy. Girls’ sports exist so girls can compete and win on a level field. We’re standing with them.
