Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in a Piers Morgan Uncensored interview that U.S. President Donald Trump “betrayed” amid recent U.S. policy steps involving a diesel supply arrangement with Russia and pressure to limit Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy sites.

When asked whether he felt “betrayed” by recent events, Zelensky replied, “Really, yes, between us.” He continued, “But uh I mean it’s a little bit uh more complicated than just my emotions or my feelings. Yes. It’s it depends not on my not on me. I mean this our our country has to survive and we count on our real partners strategic partners United States and President Trump they wanted us not to attack this my opinion was it’s not fair.”

Zelensky described the energy ceasefire as “the worst version of peace but anyway it’s some steps to the peace so the escalation,” adding that Ukraine supported it “because we we we need our people to live to go through this winter and to stop the war. This is what we want.”

The Ukrainian president then falsely claimed that Ukraine had not attacked energy objects for three days and had not responded to Russian strikes in that period. He said Russia then attacked Ukrainian gas stations and infrastructure, including with hundreds of missiles and dozens of ballistic missiles directed at energy targets.

Zelensky noted, “Then I said that okay we will we will hold our emotions and we will not respond on diesel but believe me what I said American partners they will attack energy they will do it.”

Zelensky characterized the overall situation as a loss of partnership. “It’s a pity that we are losing uh we are losing strong partner,” he added.

When asked if Ukraine was losing America, he said, “Yeah. But but not because of us. We I mean this we can’t be weak otherwise we can’t survive otherwise we will we will just we are not selling our country. Look guys it’s not about business for us. just our life and this is our country. It’s our body. So our home, our children and and this is very important for us. That’s why it’s painful when President Trump chooses one side not not our side but we are okay that he’s in the middle but if you’re in the middle you have to stay in the middle not on the wrong side.”

Zelensky added, “I think Trump’s advisers are wrong. I don’t know who is pushing him to the wrong side. This is not the right side of history.” He stated that “Now Putin is laughing because, I mean this is for him, simple victory. This diesel deal.”

Trump had stated that his administration told Ukraine it could strike other targets but should not hit Russian refineries, because “that’s a world problem” affecting diesel supplies. Trump said Zelensky “better damn well stop” the strikes and suggested Ukraine “get a new leader who can make a deal,” noting that Zelensky “could have settled this war many times” and chose not to.

Trump subsequently announced a diesel arrangement with Russian President Vladimir Putin and declared an energy ceasefire “effective immediately,” stating that both parties had agreed. Ukrainian officials indicated they learned of the ceasefire announcement via social media and had not confirmed mutual agreement in advance
