This is one of the most gruesome looking injuries I have ever seen during a NBA game.

On Sunday, Oklahoma City Thunder Guard Jalen Williams was taken off the court on a stretcher during his team’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Williams who was selected to be on the NBA All Star Team last year, had high hopes for his 2026 season but during the fourth quarter during the Thunder’s third game of the season he suffered a gruesome left leg injury that appeared to leave his foot completely in a different direction.

Here’s the moment he was hurt:

Fox News provided further details on William’s injury:

Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams was stretchered off the court against the Los Angeles Clippers after a gruesome left leg injury that appears it could end his season

Williams elevated near the hoop with Clippers defenders around him to attempt a shot when he landed in a very awkward position and seemed to fall with his left foot and ankle underneath him.

Williams’ reaction said it all, as his foot was not in the correct position.

As Williams put his head in his hands out of pure disbelief, his Thunder teammates couldn’t believe what they saw as well. Trainers quickly made a circle around him and assessed the situation following the brutal injury, which below is quite graphic to look at as a fair warning.

Williams was placed on a stretcher and wheeled off the court, where the Thunder faithful were chanting his name. He delivered a thumbs-up to the crowd to acknowledge their support, but everyone including Williams knows this injury isn’t going to be something he comes back from anytime soon.

Yahoo Sports reported this isn’t Williams’ fist time being injured:

Williams underwent surgery in July 2025 to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist, a month after helping the Thunder win its first NBA championship.

He returned in late November but later suffered a right hamstring strain that initially sidelined him for 10 games. He aggravated the injury during OKC’s first-round playoff series against the Phoenix Suns, then again in the Western Conference finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
