Actor Chad Lowe is mourning the devastating loss of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona.
The 58-year-old “Life Goes On” star and his family confirmed Tuesday that Fiona had died, describing the teenager as a bright, creative girl who loved dancing and was deeply cherished by her parents and sisters.
‘We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives,’ the family said.
‘Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.’
The family did not disclose Fiona’s cause of death.
Their statement also directed anyone struggling with mental health to seek help.
‘If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988,’ their statement concluded.
Law enforcement sources said Fiona died at home Tuesday and that authorities were called to the residence shortly after midnight.

Parents at Fiona’s school reportedly received an email from the principal Tuesday informing them that a student had died, though the message did not identify the student.
The school said ‘counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.’
Lowe shared Fiona with his wife, producer Kim Painter, 52. The couple also has two other daughters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
The actor’s social media pages have long reflected his devotion to his three daughters.
In November, Lowe celebrated Fiona’s birthday with a photo of her smiling in cowboy boots.
‘Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!’ the Emmy winner wrote. ‘Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!’
Last year, Lowe also posted a photo of all three daughters visiting the ruins of the family’s Los Angeles home after the Palisades fire.
‘Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,’ he wrote in the caption.
‘The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.’
Lowe again reflected on the family’s ordeal earlier this year, writing about the anger and despair that followed the destruction of their home.
‘One year ago today, our lives got turned upside down by a completely preventable catastrophe. It’s hard not to let the anger, despair, and frustration overwhelm. Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day,’ he shared on Instagram.
‘However, this terrible experience has been a powerful reminder of this simple truth – we can’t always control what happens to us in this life but we can control how we respond. And I have been so incredibly proud of how my wife Kim and our daughters have strived to make the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance. I am in awe of their resilience.’
Lowe has frequently spoken about how much fatherhood means to him.
‘Having daughters is such an incredible privilege,’ he shared.
The actor has been married to Painter since 2010. He was previously married to Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank from 1997 to 2007.
Lowe is also the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe.
He won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his role on “Life Goes On” and has appeared in shows including “Melrose Place,” “ER,” “24,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “Now and Again.”
Fiona was born in November 2012.
