President Donald Trump and the White House have asked U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign, according to new press secretary Katie Zacharia.
“We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign,” Zacharia told reporters on Tuesday during her maiden press briefing. “She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.”
Guilfoyle’s resignation comes after allegations that the ambassador pressured a donor to pay off a large credit card bill, accepted improper gifts and services, and threatened Greek officials.

In addition, Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality who was engaged to Donald Trump Jr. and previously married to Gavin Newsom, allegedly told guests at a reception that the U.S. could undermine Greece if it wanted, and criticized Greek officials after she was not invited to the country’s event in Davos.
