The new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, made her debut Tuesday morning with a short briefing highlighting President Donald Trump’s accomplishments and taking questions from three reporters.

“I’m looking forward to working with each of you as well, especially as we are in the middle of the midterm blitz with energy and excitement never seen before in the history of midterms, thanks to President Trump,” Zacharia said.

Zacharia opened the 14-minute briefing by touting Trump’s midterm campaign tour, manufacturing job gains, fraud crackdown efforts, and border security measures.

Then, she answered questions for just three reporters, departing from the tradition of her predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, who often called on more than 15 reporters per briefing.

She ended the briefing by saying that the president would answer the rest of the press’ questions before departing Tuesday morning for this week’s midterm travel.

Zacharia broke some major news in response to a question from the Daily Mail, revealing that the president had asked the U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign.

“We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well,” Zacharia said.

This comes after the Wall Street Journal first reported on text messages that indicated a Greek tycoon funded luxury trips for Guilfoyle. The Journal and others reported that Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality who was previously engaged to Donald Trump Jr., had boasted about luxury trips and close ties to the Trump administration.

Zacharia also revealed how she plans to balance the job and her role as a mom of four kids between the ages of 6 and 12.

“They are my priority. I love being with my kids,” she said. “The idea of not spending evenings with my kids is completely unacceptable. My husband is out here. He’s out here for the week because we have two birthdays in our family, and we are very, very protective of celebrating birthdays as a family.”

She said she stayed home with her kids from 2014 to 2020. Now, she plans to include her kids in her work as much as possible, she said.

“[Trump] has hired more women with families, and the fact that he knew I had four kids and he knew that this job would be demanding, and still places trust in me, shows that I know I’m capable of being able to step up to that,” she said.
