President Trump was right.

Just months after a Federal Judge ruled President Trump could not shut down the Kennedy Center to begin some much needed renovations, the historic performance arts center is beginning to fall apart.

On Saturday, a spokeswoman for the White House released photos of the Kennedy Center and in those photos it shows a portion of the venue’s roof fallen on the floor.

CBS News reported more details on the damage and what is halting the renovations:

A chunk of ceiling fell inside a main hallway of the Kennedy Center, which underscores the need to shut down the historic arts venue for renovations sought by President Trump, a spokesperson said.

No one was injured when a piece of the ceiling inside the Kennedy Center’s grand foyer partially collapsed Friday evening, said Roma Daravi, the center’s vice president for public relations.

Photos provided by the center showed a large hole in the high ceiling and debris littering the red carpet in part of the hallway that connects the Kennedy Center’s three main performance auditoriums. The damage occurred during stormy weather in Washington.

“The reality is, the place is falling apart and @realDonaldTrump wants to fix it,” Daravi said in a social media post with the photos.

“There is no legitimate reason to further halt the renovations,” Daravi said in another post. “The longer the delay, the worse the infrastructure gets.”

The Kennedy Center’s Trump-aligned board is fighting in court to move forward with plans to add Mr. Trump’s name to the building’s facade and to close the center for two years as it undergoes $250 million in renovations.

Daravi called the partial ceiling collapse Friday “another example of the urgent need to close for renovation and revitalization, as our Chairman President Trump has championed.”
THE CEILING JUST FELL.

Friday. Kennedy Center Grand Foyer. Chunk of plaster on the red carpet. Nobody under it. Next time they might be.

Trump said it May 30: the building would collapse – structurally and financially.

The Hill reported, just a week before a portion of the roof fell, President renewed calls for the Center to be renovated:

President Trump on Sunday knocked U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, who has overseen the case over the Kennedy Center and the president’s attempts to refurbish and rename the institution, as “highly conflicted.”

“Kennedy Center is an old and decrepit building that is badly in need of a major construction and public relations fix before it can attain greatness and prestige, perhaps far greater than ever before,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“It has been losing a fortune for many years, and will continue to do so if the highly conflicted judge on the case doesn’t allow us to do what has to be done!” he added.
Cooper, appointed by former President Obama, ruled that Trump’s name cannot be added to the building, having ordered the lettering outside the building to be removed.

He said that only Congress can change the center’s name, as the building was established by Congress as a living memorial to former President John F. Kennedy.
The signage outside the building was covered with a tarp.
