Rapper Soulja Boy hinted at a 2028 presidential bid, outlining a platform that would prioritize four issues.

“A new chapter. A bigger vision. A commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation. My focus is on four things: economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and AI,” the rapper, whose legal name is DeAndre Cortez Way, wrote on Instagram.

“From music to business to technology, I’ve always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible. Now I’m exploring what it means to bring that same vision to public service. The future starts with a conversation,” he added.

“Vote for Soulja Boy 2028,” he wrote on X.

FOX 5 Atlanta shared further:

He has not announced a formal campaign or said which political party, if any, he would represent.

Way was born in Chicago and moved to Atlanta with his family when he was 6.

He became interested in rap while growing up in the city. At 14, he moved to Batesville, Mississippi, to live with his father, who provided him with a home recording studio.

Way began sharing music online as a teenager, and his 2007 single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” later topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven nonconsecutive weeks.

According to TMZ, Soulja Boy performed at the Crypto Ball during President Trump’s 2025 inauguration festivities.

TMZ noted:

And get this … “Saturday Night Live” actually joked about Soulja running for president back in 2019, with Chris Redd playing the rapper in a sketch inspired by his viral “Breakfast Club” interview.

Of course, Soulja isn’t the first rapper to flirt with the White House … Kanye West made a run for president in 2020.

From “Crank That” to commander in chief? We’ll see if Soulja can turn his presidential ambitions into more than a catchy campaign slogan.
