A violent career criminal accused of killing a Philadelphia police officer and wounding another told investigators he did it because the cops were white.
Early Saturday, 35-year-old Eric Lewis was arrested after an hour-long standoff with police.
Originally, law enforcement was called due to reports of a man standing on a porch with a gun around midnight.
After they arrived, Lewis confronted them and, after a brief struggle, opened fire on the officers.
Sadly, 40-year-old Officer Shane Seiber — a father of two, 10-year police veteran, and Air Force veteran — was shot and died hours later at the hospital.
His partner was also shot twelve times and hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
CBS News reported further on the incident:
Police responded to a call about a man with a gun on the porch at a West Philadelphia home. When officers arrived at the scene, they approached the home and came under heavy gunfire, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said.
Two officers were shot, including one who died, and nine others were fired at, police said.
Police identified the 40-year-old officer who died as Shane Seiber. Bethel said he was a 10-year veteran of the force with two children. His wife and other relatives were by his side at the hospital, he said.
“He fought valiantly, but he lost his life today,” Bethel said during a mid-morning news conference. “I want to say I appreciate all of the calls and all the support we received when we left out of [the hospital] this morning.
“We had an immense amount of hope.”
The other officer, a 33-year-old, was shot 12 times, Bethel said. The officer has been with the department for nine years and assigned to the 19th District since 2018.
Police recovered three guns from the scene — two handguns and a shotgun. One of the handguns had been taken from one of the officers who was shot, according to Bethel.
Eric Lewis is facing multiple charges and being held without bail.
According to his arrest report, he admitted to shooting the officers and said he was motivated due to their race.
The report states that he said,
“If the cops were black he would not have shot them.”
At one point, he also told a black woman cop,
“If it was you that responded we would have just had a conversation.”

BREAKING: I have obtained the official arrest report for Eric Lewis– the man accused of shooting and killing 40-year-old Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber.
According to the report, Lewis told the arresting officers that he shot and killed Officer Seiber, and wounded his partner, because they were white.
“He stated if the cops were black he would not have shot him… He was making racist remarks to the white police officers saying he makes more money than them.”
Officer Seiber was an Air Force veteran and leaves behind a wife and two young kids.
Wow.
Imagine if the roles were reversed and a white suspect had confessed to shooting a black cop because of his race…
The media would be in an uproar!
But, because it’s the other way around, hardly any news outlets are reporting on it.
By the way, this is far from Eric Lewis’ first brush with the law.
NBC Philadelphia detailed his criminal record:
Lewis, who worked for the Philadelphia Water Department, is facing 76 criminal charges for the ambush of Philadelphia police officers just after midnight on Saturday in West Philadelphia, according to court documents. The charges include homicide of a law enforcement and murder for the killing of 40-year-old Officer Shane Seiber, as well as 10 counts of attempted homicide of a law enforcement officer, attempted murder, terroristic threats and other related charges.
Lewis has also been found guilty of several crimes in the past, including weapons charges and theft, according to court documents.
In 2012, Lewis was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking – movable property and receiving stolen property, which were both downgraded to misdemeanors, according to court documents. Lewis was ultimately found guilty and sentenced to a maximum of two years of probation in the case.
Philadelphia Police arrest report records received by the NBC10 Investigators show that Lewis was arrested in 2013 for a shooting incident that involved his brother, Moses. Lewis pulled out a gun and fired four or five shots at his brother, according to the report. It goes on to say that it began with a disagreement between Lewis and his other brother, Kiel.
Lewis was found guilty of several misdemeanors including carrying firearms in public. He received five years probation and had to undergo a mental health evaluation, according to court records.
Lewis’ attorney in that case said he had no further information when NBC10 reached out to him.
Lewis also pleaded guilty in 2018 to disorderly conduct, engaging in a fight and was sentenced to a maximum of 12 months on probation, according to court documents.
Finally, Lewis was arrested in 2020 in connection to a homicide that occurred in 2019, according to multiple law enforcement sources. Two sources with direct knowledge of the case told the NBC10 Investigators that Lewis was acquitted and the case was later expunged.
This clip from Fox News dove deeper into Lewis’ rap sheet and motivation:
OMG. The thug who ambushed police officers in Philadelphia just admitted he targeted them because they are WHITE
If this were reversed, it would be wall-to-wall coverage on every network as a hate crime.
Eric Lewis, who m*rdered one of the officers, JUST TOLD INVESTIGATORS:…

Because. They. Are. WHITE.
THIS IS INFURIATING!
Lewis has a major rap sheet, a known criminal. He saw white officers then opened fire. Because of their skin color
This is what anti-white hatred does when it’s provoked in the media for years.
Rest in peace, Officer Shane Seiber
Seiber was a 40-year-old Air Force veteran and a father of two little kids.
