Philadelphia police officer Shane Seiber was laid to rest on Tuesday, less than two weeks after he was allegedly shot and killed by Eric Lewis while answering a call in West Philadelphia on Oct. 10, shortly before 1 a.m. Lewis, a black man, allegedly revealed later that one of the reasons he shot Seiber — and his partner, who survived the attack — was that they were white. He allegedly went so far as to tell a black female police officer that if she had been the one who responded, he wouldn’t have shot her and instead “would have just had a conversation.”
A black man allegedly shooting and killing a police officer because he was white seems like a pretty serious hate crime that should send shockwaves throughout the country. It should also have generated widespread condemnation, with elected officials and politicians condemning such violent racial bigotry by a black man. After all, that is the kind of reaction that frequently occurs when a police officer — especially a white police officer — shoots and kills a black man. Yet when it is the reverse, politicians and elected officials are conspicuously and disgracefully silent. In such instances, Democrats are too afraid to identify racist black male murderers as racists.
BELTWAY CONFIDENTIAL: NO PROTESTS OR GOLD COFFINS FOR PHILADELPHIA POLICE OFFICER SHOT AND KILLED ALLEGEDLY BECAUSE HE WAS WHITE
This includes Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA), who, while serving as Pennsylvania attorney general in 2020, was quite vocal about the death of George Floyd and the police officer convicted for his death, Derek Chauvin. Seiber, a 10-year police veteran, Air Force veteran, and father of two young children who was posthumously promoted to sergeant on Tuesday, received no such condemnation of his alleged killer from Shapiro. It was a stark contrast to the harsh rhetoric Shapiro had for Chauvin. Shapiro was quite eager to blame racism for Floyd’s death in 2020. In 2026, he is too fearful to blame a black man for the racist killing of a white officer.
“There is a rot at the center of our society, and this week it was laid bare on the street under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer,” Shapiro said in a 2020 statement about the death of Floyd, a resident of another state. “Today that officer was charged with murder and is under arrest. It is the first step toward justice, but we have a long road ahead of us.”
“We still live with the consequences of slavery and racism,” Shapiro added at the time. “It has been institutionalized over generations in our criminal justice system, our economy, our healthcare system, and our schools.”
“The killing of George Floyd is an especially painful reminder of how far we have yet to travel as a nation to find peace and equality — because this could be anywhere in America,” Shapiro said.
First, Floyd’s death had nothing to do with slavery. The institution ended in 1865 and is only kept alive by radical liberals and Democrats who like to cite it under pretenses to appeal to a rabid and brainwashed political base. Second, Floyd’s death also had nothing to do with racism, despite many left-wing claims to the contrary. Many liberals and Democrats made this false assertion at the time. This lie was repeated so often that many believed it to be true.
Now compare Shapiro’s remarks from 2020 to what he said in 2026, after a police officer in his own state was allegedly shot and killed by a black man who allegedly claimed he did so because the officer was white.
“Somewhere across Pennsylvania today, I hope a child will look up and see those flags waving only halfway up the pole, and ask their parents, ‘Why aren’t the flags all the way at the top?’ I hope their parents will tell them it’s for Shane. I hope they share a little something about his life,” Shapiro said at Seiber’s funeral service. “Shane was truly the very best of us.”
He expressed similar sentiments in social media posts about the slain police officer. However, he still failed to make any remarks about the anti-white racial hatred and bigotry that allegedly motivated Lewis to shoot and kill him.
“For 10 years, Shane put on the uniform and the badge every day, kissed his family goodbye, and left home to protect and serve his neighbors,” Shapiro said in a post on X on Tuesday. “While his life was cut far too short, we all have a collective responsibility to come together and remember his life of service and the ultimate sacrifice he made to keep his community safe.”

“Policing is a noble profession, and those who take on the incredibly difficult task of protecting our communities deserve our profound gratitude and deep respect.”
This was a cop-out, no pun intended. Shapiro was too cowardly to make the same accusations of racism that he made about Derek Chauvin. And he avoided doing so because Lewis is black. Without any evidence, he claimed racism was a factor in George Floyd’s death in 2020. Yet, with actual evidence, he couldn’t do the same regarding Lewis’s alleged murder of Seiber. Lewis’s race doesn’t fit the left-wing political and ideological narrative regarding racism and violence. As such, Shapiro is too cowardly to condemn the anti-white discrimination that allegedly fueled Lewis’s fatal actions.
