Jasmine Crockett heads to Virginia to stump in close House districts while spurning Talarico

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) was in Virginia this week to campaign for Rep. Eugene Vindman (D-VA) in the Old Dominion’s 7th Congressional District as she stays off the Texas Senate campaign trail.

Crockett, who ran for Texas Senate in 2026 but fell in the heated Democratic primary to State Rep. James Talarico, backed Talarico in his race against Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton, but has not yet campaigned with the Democratic Senate nominee in her home state. Instead, Crockett has campaigned for downballot U.S. House candidates in Texas and now hits out-of-state marginal districts, like Vindman’s.

“It was great to have Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett in VA-07 getting folks ready to turn out and vote this November! Awesome turnout and even better energy,” Vindman wrote on X Wednesday, following her get-out-the-vote and fundraising swing in the district.

Vindman promoted that the two candidates went to church together and held a lunch with leaders and members of local historically Black fraternities and sororities.

Virginia’s seventh district is ranked as a likely Democratic district by the Cook Political Report due to Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s (D-VA) double-digit margin in the area in 2025 and Vindman’s now $5.7 million war chest. However, the district shifted slightly toward Republicans in May, and the Virginia GOP sees an opening for a flip with retired Army lieutenant colonel and Republican nominee Doug Ollivant. Crockett is not the only Democratic Party rising star to campaign recently in the district; she follows Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD), who stumped for Vindman last week.

Crockett started her own PAC called the FIRE, or Fueling Individual Rights Everywhere, PAC earlier this year, and has rolled out dozens of endorsements for candidates in Texas and other states. Her PAC backed the candidates, saying they have “demonstrated people-first leadership, held firm against injustice, and are working to reshape politics.” As of Wednesday afternoon, the published list of endorsements did not include Talarico, but neither did it include Vindman.

Outside of Texas, her FIRE PAC endorsed three candidates in California, including Democratic gubernatorial nominee Xavier Becerra, and Stacey Plaskett in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“I support all Democrats. Yes, that includes James Talarico, who I endorsed the day after the election,” Crockett said in early October, though she has not yet campaigned with him.

The Washington Examiner has reached out to Crockett for comment.
