BREAKING: Flavio Bolsonaro and Family Have Arrived in Miami After Fleeing Brazil — Marco Rubio and State Dept. Personally Coordinated

Flavio Bolsonaro, his wife and two daughters have arrived safely in Miami after leaving Brazil, and the U.S. State Department granted the family visas that cleared their path into the United States.

The dramatic arrival came after Brazilian authorities moved to seize the senator’s passport and block him from leaving the country. But by the time the order came down, Bolsonaro and his family were already beyond Brazil’s reach.

Now, a prominent ally of President Trump says Secretary of State Marco Rubio personally coordinated the operation that brought the Bolsonaro family to American soil.

That is a stunning development in a political crisis that has now crossed borders.

The Associated Press confirmed that Bolsonaro and his family landed in the Miami area Wednesday. A State Department official had said one day earlier that the United States would issue visas to Bolsonaro, his wife and their two daughters.

The visa decision gave the family a legal route into the United States as a Brazilian court fight accelerated behind them. According to the AP’s reporting, Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered Bolsonaro to surrender his passport and prohibited him from leaving Brazil, but the order was issued after he had already departed.

Axios separately reported that the Trump administration was granting visas to the Bolsonaro family after Flavio left Brazil. The move put Washington squarely in the middle of a fast-moving dispute following Brazil’s presidential election.

It also meant the family would not be stranded in transit while the court order and passport fight unfolded back home.

Bolsonaro had been the conservative presidential candidate and narrowly lost Sunday’s runoff election to leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. His departure immediately raised the stakes as Brazilian authorities began moving against him.

South Florida reporters tracked the family’s route through Argentina and Ecuador before their arrival in Miami:

Metrópoles reported that the Bolsonaro family touched down at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. Images from the scene showed Flavio, his wife Fernanda and their daughters arriving together after the multi-country journey.

The family had reportedly crossed Argentina and continued through Ecuador before the final flight into South Florida.

The State Department’s visa action is confirmed. The more explosive claim about Rubio’s personal role comes from political activist Simón Levy, who publicly called the secretary the “mastermind” of the operation.

Agência Brasil documented Levy’s announcement and his statement about Rubio. Levy is a Mexican-Israeli businessman and political activist who has publicly aligned himself with President Trump and conservative movements in Latin America.

The outlet reported that Levy announced the family had reached the United States safely and directly named Rubio as the official behind the operation. That makes Levy the identified source for the personal-coordination claim in the headline.

At the same time, the State Department has not publicly released an operational account independently detailing Rubio’s personal involvement. The careful distinction matters: Washington’s visa action is confirmed, while the description of Rubio as the operation’s mastermind comes from Levy’s public account.

What is beyond dispute is that the department granted the visas, the family reached American soil, and Brazil’s passport restriction came too late to stop them.

The timing could hardly be more consequential.

President Trump had already criticized the treatment of the Bolsonaro family and the actions of Brazil’s judiciary. Rubio, meanwhile, has made the Western Hemisphere a central focus of American foreign policy, especially where conservative leaders face pressure from left-wing governments and powerful courts.

Flavio is also the son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, whose clashes with Justice Moraes have become an international flashpoint. That history guarantees the family’s arrival in Florida will reverberate far beyond Miami.

For the moment, the central facts are clear: the Bolsonaro family is in the United States, the State Department opened the door, and an ally close to the story says Marco Rubio helped make it happen.

Brazil tried to close the exit after Flavio Bolsonaro was already gone.

America opened the entrance.
