A Chicago man has been sentenced to two years in the federal slammer for arranging armed robberies so that the “victims” could apply for a special immigration visa and remain in the United States.

U.S. immigration law grants special privileges to immigrants who are “victims” of crime and are assisting police with their investigations.

The case that has Parth Nayi heading to prison is one in which he staged armed robberies allowing the “victims” to claim those rights.

The confirmation comes from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Ya’ll, this is nuts. Hundreds – that’s right, HUNDREDS – of armed robberies between 2022 and 2024 weren’t real. They were staged by the “victims” as part of a massive immigration fraud scheme to secure U-visas for themselves and their families. https://t.co/7Un9Deyly7

A report at RedState outlined the apparent immigration fraud.

The report noted the scam continued, “until one of those phony holdups turned horrifyingly real and an innocent store clerk ended up being shot.”

Nayi, 29, also was fined $50,000, the report said.

“Prosecutors say Nayi was the chief organizer of the scheme that staged armed robberies at coffee shops, restaurants, liquor stores, and gas stations from 2022 through 2024. According to the Department of Justice, thousands of people paid Nayi anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 each to pose as victims of the scam ‘crimes’ so that they could later apply for U visas, which are set aside for foreign nationals who are victims of certain kinds of crimes and who later assist law enforcement.”

The report said Nayi would recruit people to pose as robbery victims, arrange the location, and hire “robbers.” The “victims” then would report the crimes to police and apply for U visa applicaionts.

The scheme derailed when, during one of the staged events, a “robber” fired his gun and seriously injured a store clerk.

Five others also have been convicted for participating in the scheme.
