President Donald Trump told reporters Tuesday that he will rebrand artificial intelligence as “super intelligence.”
“We’re going to be signing a document today at about 5 o’clock, renaming artificial intelligence because it’s not artificial,” Trump said while flanked by tech billionaire Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and other AI leaders. “We all agree on that, and we’re going to be renaming it ‘super intelligence,’ officially renaming it, and that’ll come out at 5 o’clock today.”
The comments came during a White House lunch that Trump hosted with top government officials and business leaders to discuss AI threats. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Vice President JD Vance, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, and other Cabinet members were in attendance.
The meeting took place as Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has repeatedly called for congressional leaders to help slow down the development of AI due to fears that mankind may not be able to control it.
Trump downplayed the fears in his brief remarks to reporters on Tuesday.
“The one thing that we all have in common is we love our country, and we love the world, and we want to make sure it’s a safe place,” the president said. “And what we’re talking about today will make it a better place and a much safer place.”
The president has insisted the U.S. must remain a leader in the AI race with China.
“We have a very big lead, and we’re going to keep our lead, and it’s a very positive thing,” Trump said. “It’s an amazing industry. There are those that say it’s bigger than the industrial revolution.”

Trump also pointed to the Justice Department and the FBI as key regulators of AI while answering reporter questions.
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump signed an executive order directing all federal government agencies to integrate their public-facing services with America.gov.
