AOL reported more on Tyson’s visit to the White House:

Tyson appeared alongside Trump on Friday, with cameras flashing and reporters shouting questions at both men as they left the White House.

The ex-boxing champion strolled in step with Trump and said almost nothing during the walk. Tyson wore a business suit and kept the same cold stare that built his Iron Mike prime while Trump fielded questions before heading to New York.

“This is Iron Mike Tyson,” Trump said, referring to the boxer who likely didn’t need an introduction. “I won’t be fighting him today, but I’ve been his fan for a long time.”

The boxer didn’t crack a smile or flinch as Trump spoke. Tyson finally lifted his hands to the crowd, surrounded by a crush of photographers and reporters.

Trump shared his New York political plans of helping Republican candidates before the elections. Republican gubernatorial nominee Bruce Blakeman is challenging incumbent Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul.

Tyson also visited the White House’s Press Briefing Room:

The Hill reported on the history of Trump and Tyson’s friendship:

Their history stretches to the 1980s. As a businessman, Trump served as Tyson’s business adviser and later defended the boxer before and after he was convicted of rape in 1992. Trump later appeared among several celebrities at Tyson’s first fight after he was released from prison — against Peter McNeeley in 1995.

The president has sought to attach himself to fighting sports in recent months, holding a primetime UFC fight on the White House lawn this summer.

Tyson appeared at the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) summit in Washington last month on a panel focusing on the “MAHA Athlete,” and he participated in a Super Bowl ad earlier this year promoting the MAHA campaign and urging people to eat “real food.”
