President Donald Trump is weighing a major shake-up within his administration, confirming Monday that U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle could be shown the door as allegations of financial misconduct continue to pile up.
The president delivered the stunning admission while speaking with reporters at the White House before departing for a campaign rally in Ohio, making clear that he and his administration are dissatisfied with the controversy surrounding the longtime Trump ally.
“Well, we’re looking at it,” Trump said when asked whether he was considering firing Guilfoyle. “Yeah, we’re not happy.”
The remarks came after a senior administration official revealed that Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were “extremely pissed off” over reports involving Guilfoyle’s conduct before and during her diplomatic assignment.
Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality and ex-fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., is facing mounting scrutiny following explosive allegations that she sought financial assistance from a Trump donor while allegedly offering access to influential administration officials.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Guilfoyle allegedly requested that former Kentucky congressional candidate Eric Deters cover a staggering $100,000 American Express bill before her Senate confirmation hearing.
Deters claims the request was connected to promises that Guilfoyle could use her political relationships to help resolve his personal legal and tax problems.
The allegations extend beyond the six-figure credit card dispute.
Guilfoyle has also been accused of promoting the interests of a Greek construction and energy company, allowing a lobbyist into private diplomatic meetings and accepting improper gifts or services.

Additional allegations involve comments she allegedly made concerning the Greek government.
None of the accusations has been established as criminal wrongdoing, and Guilfoyle’s legal team has strongly denied misconduct.
Attorneys David Schwartz and Jesse Binnall pushed back Sunday, arguing that the disputed payment involved legitimate compensation for appearances and speaking engagements arranged before Guilfoyle was nominated as ambassador.
“Ambassador Guilfoyle has served, and will continue to serve, with integrity, honor and distinction,” the lawyers said. “We are evaluating all available legal remedies to collect this debt and any other potential causes of action.”

Her attorneys also defended her use of private aircraft, maintaining that she “sought, obtained and followed State Department guidance and followed the department’s travel regulations.”
Marco Rubio, meanwhile, appeared increasingly frustrated when reporters confronted him about the allegations during a diplomatic visit to Greece last week.
“You guys walk around thinking that because some source told you something, and you reported it, it’s the gospel,” Rubio fired back Thursday.
“It’s not the gospel. It’s not the gospel for me. That’s not the way we do things.”
The secretary of state had previously defended the American diplomatic mission in Athens, praising Guilfoyle’s performance despite the growing controversy.
Vice President JD Vance also cautioned against drawing conclusions before the allegations were established, while making clear that selling access to government officials would be unacceptable.
Meanwhile, the State Department’s inspector general is reportedly examining the allegations, although officials have not publicly confirmed whether a formal investigation has been opened.
Congressional Democrats have demanded additional scrutiny, creating another political headache for the administration ahead of November’s midterm elections.
For Guilfoyle, the stakes could hardly be higher. Her longtime loyalty to Donald Trump has helped define her political career, but the president’s latest remarks suggest those connections may not be enough to save her diplomatic post.
