Minnesota AG Keith Ellison Shouted Down By Hecklers At Campaign Rally: ‘Shame On You!’

In what appeared to be the latest skirmish in the Democrat Party’s ongoing civil war, a group of hecklers shouted down Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison during a recent campaign event.

Ellison, a darling of the “inclusive” left during the Obama years due to his status as a Muslim in Congress, now finds himself insufficiently extreme for a modern-day party that backs candidates like Zohran Mamdani and his socialist ilk.

As the Daily Caller reported:

Ellison was giving a speech at a rally for Peggy Flanagan, lieutenant governor of Minnesota and candidate for U.S. Senate, when he was interrupted by the hecklers. They were yelling, “Fund the C.R.U., Keith Ellison, shame on you!”

The hecklers were referring the to the Conviction Review Unit (CRU), a Minnesota AG program which focused on appeals to convictions. The program used federal funding for these investigations, and was forced to close down July 1, after the DOJ grant was not renewed, KARE 11 reported. The CRU’s website now reads, “Due to budgetary constraints, the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office had to make the very difficult decision to eliminate the Conviction Review Unit.”

The intraparty conflict unsurprisingly drew some mockery on social media:

Others, including the Republican National Committee, took note of another segment of Ellison’s speech:

Did Minnesota AG Keith Ellison just admit that Democrats are giving people citizenship for votes?

Blaze Media added these details:

Prior to getting heckled off the stage, Ellison described the contest between Flanagan and Craig as “truly a fight of the money versus the many.”

He might have been referring to the significant cash advantage Craig has over Flanagan, as divulged in financial reports. Flanagan has only $1.56 million in cash on hand, while Craig has more than three times as much — $5 million, for the period ending June 30.

“We are the many, and we will beat the money, and we will prevail against them,” Ellison said at the rally.

Videos of the interruption were widely circulated on YouTube and the X platform.

Craig was the first openly LGBTQ+ member in Congress from Minnesota and is also the first lesbian mother to serve in Congress.
