1.6 Million Eggs RECALLED Over Salmonella Concerns, Here’s The Locations Impacted

It’s been a bad last couple of weeks for food suppliers.

For the last several weeks American have been on edge over the cyclospora outbreak which causes “explosive” diarrhea.

The outbreak has been linked to iceberg lettuce but the FDA is still investigating where the outbreak has started.

Taylor Farms which sources its lettuce from Mexico has already issued a recall for its iceberg lettuce due to it possibly being the source of the outbreak.

Now, the FDA has announced nearly 1.6 million eggs have been recalled over concerns over being contaminated with Salmonella.

CBS 8 reported more on the recall:

A Texas egg producer is voluntarily recalling nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs sold at Kroger and Brookshire’s grocery stores across the South after the products were found to have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis, the Food and Drug Administration announced Wednesday.

Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. said it is recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free eggs produced at its Texas farms between June 6 and July 3. The recalled eggs were distributed to foodservice and retail customers in several states, and carry sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and Aug. 17.

The company said it identified the issue through proactive environmental monitoring and root cause analysis at its two Texas farms, and is not distributing any fresh eggs from those farms at this time. No illnesses have been linked to the recalled products, the company said.

Shop local farmer markets whom you are familiar with. Because all the food in the stores is tainted. Listeria in the meat, a parasite in the produce, and salmonella in the eggs.

• Foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana

• Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana

• Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi

• According to the recall, the eggs were also available at “other smaller retail outlets.”
