CAPTURED: Another FBI Most Wanted Fraudster.

This is the 5th Most Wanted Fraudster captured since the creation of the new list three months ago – and yet another high value target captured overseas. Subjects captured so far have been responsible for a combined over $2 billion in fraud and were on the run for almost 4,000 days collectively prior to arrest.

MANJIT SINGH BEDI – on the run for nearly a year – was arrested for allegedly defrauding the U.S. of at least $600k in SNAP funds from approximately 2024 to 2025 – orchestrating a scheme out of a grocery store he operated here in the U.S. Bedi was just arrested in India and was believed have fled there sometime last year. FBI is actively working to secure his return to the United States.

Bedi is charged with a series of offenses including wire fraud, SNAP benefits fraud, and more.

Allegedly, Bedi ran a grocery store in Tacoma, WA, where he handed out cash to people on food stamps in exchange for keeping some of the benefits for himself.

Fox News reported further on the allegations against Singh Bedi and the charges he is facing:

Federal investigators allege Bedi defrauded the U.S. government out of at least $600,000 through a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) fraud scheme between March 2024 and June 2025, while operating an Asian grocery store in Tacoma, Washington.

According to the FBI, Bedi swiped SNAP recipients’ Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, gave them cash instead of eligible food purchases and kept roughly half of the benefits for himself.

After being indicted on wire fraud and SNAP benefits fraud charges, Bedi was ordered to surrender his passport and remain in Washington state while awaiting court proceedings, according to the FBI.

Investigators allege he instead drove across the Canadian border before fleeing to India. A federal arrest warrant charging him with violating the conditions of his release was issued on May 21, 2026.

The FBI had offered a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to Bedi’s arrest and conviction. The bureau said the naturalized U.S. citizen was believed to be living in India before his arrest.

“As this arrest in India shows, the Justice Department’s reach extends to every corner of the planet,” Assistant Attorney General Colin M. McDonald of the Justice Department’s National Fraud Enforcement Division told Fox News Digital.

“The Fraud Division will continue to work hand-in-hand with the FBI to ensure fraudsters like Bedi are held accountable, no matter where they hide.”

The “Most Wanted Fraudster” list was only created around 3 months ago — and, already the FBI has nabbed five on the list!

It just goes to show you what can happen when the agency is actually trying to capture criminals.
