Journalist Who Smiled & Winked at Camera During Lindsay Clancy Trial Gets FIRED From Her Job

A smile and a wink during a high-profile murder trial just cost a journalist her job.

A few days ago, a clip of a woman in a green dress smiling, posing, and winking at the courtroom camera during the ongoing Lindsay Clancy triple-murder trial caused quite a stir on social media.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the full video:

Glamour contributor winks at the camera during the Lindsay Clancy trial.

Clancy is on trial for murdering her three children by strangling them with exercise bands, and Brittany Romano thought it was a good time to give the camera a wink.

This lady, Brittany Romano, was originally hired by Vanity Fair to cover the trial.

But, after the clip went viral, the media outlet pulled Romano’s credentials and canceled the piece she was working on, claiming she violated their editorial standards.

As it turns out, hamming it up for the cameras during a trial for a monster who killed her three children is too much even for the notoriously liberal Vanity Fair.

It’s nice to see them finally having some journalistic integrity.

Fox News covered this latest development in a short clip:

Vanity Fair drops journalist Brittany Romano after video of her smiling, posing and winking at a courtroom camera during the Lindsay Clancy murder trial explodes across social media.

The magazine says Romano was credentialed to write a personal essay about growing up with Clancy, but it is now cutting ties after what it calls “clear conflicts with our editorial standards and processes.”

Romano defended her behavior amid the backlash, saying she smiles through anxiety and has “nothing to apologize for.”

Three young, innocent children were killed by the person who was supposed to love and protect them the most in this world — their very own mother.

Lindsay Clancy strangled 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan with an exercise band one-by-one in the basement on their home.

The story is enough to break any sane person’s heart.

But, all this ‘journalist’ could do was to grin and pose for the camera, as if she were on some silly daytime talk show — not a serious murder trial.

Now, she’s out of a job. It serves her right.

By the way, Brittany Romano is a childhood friend of Lindsay Clancy.

She is ‘defending’ herself by saying that the reason she laughed in court was because Clancy looked at her.

As if that doesn’t make it even worse.

Here’s a photo of the two together as kids:

Brittany Romano was Jessica Machado’s bestie in court at the Lindsay Clancy trial, but was fired today by Vanity Fair for a viral moment in which she and another “reporter” smiled and laughed at the camera. Romano claims to be childhood friends with Lindsay Clancy, and says she had just looked at Clancy before laughing, but was only laughing because her Dad and Hillary Duff’s stylist told her to. She has exhibited similar behavio before, and told people to kill themselves on IG for criticizing her:

The article Romano was writing for Vanity Fair before they fired her was supposed to be a “personal essay” about her experience growing up with Clancy.

Fox News shared a statement from the magazine:

In a statement sent to Fox News, Vanity Fair said, “We were interested in the prospect of a personal essay by Brittany Romano about her experience growing up with Lindsay Clancy. Yesterday, after clear conflicts with our editorial standards and processes, we informed Romano that we were not moving forward with her essay and informed the court that she is no longer credentialed by Vanity Fair.”

Romano spoke directly with Fox News Digital and says she “never had a contract” with Vanity Fair and she worked as a freelance journalist assigned for this specific project.

However, Brittany Romano is disputing Vanity Fair’s statement.

Newsweek shared her full response:

In a statement to Newsweek on Wednesday, Romano disputed Vanity Fair’s statement that she was “no longer credentialed” by the magazine.

“I am a freelancer. Vanity Fair cannot ‘pull credentials’ from someone who is not staff,” she said. “The conversation about a contract predates any of the courtroom coverage entirely—when I raised it, I received no response, only a question about when I could deliver a draft. After the TikTok surfaced, a member of the Vanity Fair team emailed me to say she thought I should take the story elsewhere. That is the full extent of what happened. There was no formal agreement, no employment relationship, and no ‘fallout.’ That framing is factually inaccurate.”

She also strong refuted the suggestions that she had been winking during the murder trial, telling Newsweek, “There was no wink. I had mascara in my eye.”

Romano did not dispute that she smiled at court, but said that she was “known for smiling in uncomfortable situations.”

Described online as “Green Dress Lady,” Romano has become the subject of intense scrutiny since footage of the courtroom moment spread rapidly online, prompting criticism from viewers and a public response from Romano, who said she had received abusive messages in the fallout.

The controversy has also brought renewed attention to Romano’s connection to Clancy. In a livestream following the courtroom incident, Romano said she had “grew up with Lindsay,” explaining that she laughed when the camera appeared because Clancy looked at her and she looked back. Social media users have also circulated a childhood photograph that they claim shows Romano and Clancy together as children.

Romano addressed the incident in a lengthy Instagram post where she wrote that “a smile is not a crime” and that she has “nothing to apologize for.”

“I smile through anxiety. I smile when I’m uncomfortable. That is not indifference, it is a nervous system managing strain the only way it knows how,” she said, before linking her experience of the backlash to the case and women’s mental health. “Cry, and a woman is dramatic. Smile, and she doesn’t care. Stay composed and something must be wrong with her. We decide the meaning first and spend the rest of the time making her prove it, and that is the identical logic that has followed Lindsay for two years.”

She also posted (then tried to delete) this very bizarre Instagram video reacting to all the backlash she has received:

There appears to be something deeply wrong with this woman, as well as all the crazy leftist women backing Lindsay Clancy as if she is the real victim in the murder case — and not those three precious children.

Frankly, it feels very demonic.

What are your thoughts?
