Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha slammed Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon after she declined to directly call Cuba a dictatorship.
“The fact that she couldn’t even answer that question and then puts out a statement later that was written for her, again, she’s not winning this election,” Concha said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First Wednesday.
CBS News’s Cristian Benavides asked Nixon if she considers Cuba a dictatorship during an interview on Monday.
“You know, that is what people have told me,” Nixon said. “I have never been to Cuba, and so I will have to take their word for it.”
“Congratulations, America. You’re now dumber for having listened to that,” Concha said.
“It would be like saying, ‘Hey, is North Korea a dictatorship?’ And answer, ‘You know, believe it or not, I’ve never been there, so I’m just going to have to go on third-party information here,” he continued.
Concha compared Nixon’s response to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MI) inability to directly answer whether she was related to her second husband.
MS Now host Chris Hayes questioned Omar about the claim during an interview on Oct. 21, in which she dismissed it as a conspiracy theory.
When asked if she was related to her ex-husband, Omar replied, “Not to my knowledge.”
Concha said the two Democrats are in competition for “worst answer to a question during an interview this year.”
Nixon defended herself on X Tuesday.
“I say it plainly: I do not celebrate Castro. I call Cuba what it is, an authoritarian regime, and I will fight for the Cuban families who fled it,” Nixon said.
Concha also said Nixon “may be the worst” Democratic candidate because of her comments against her opponent, Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL), who Nixon wants behind bars.
“They [the Moody campaign] are spreading, like, a lot of disinformation and lies on commercials about me, of saying things like, I want to abolish prisons, and I want to defund the police,” Nixon said to CNN host Kasie Hunt during an interview on Oct. 14.
“Why would I want to do that when I want her locked up and punished in jail for what she has done?” Nixon continued.
Concha argued that Nixon’s stance on Cuba is “not remotely” going to go over well with Florida Democrats, making it even harder for Democrats to win the seat.

“If you don’t have whatever’s left of the Florida Democratic Party, then that’s going to be a problem going into a Senate election,” Concha said.
“I can guarantee on national television, it won’t even be close.”
