Rep. Ilhan Omar lashed out at President Donald Trump on Monday after federal agents searched her Washington home, accusing his administration of using law enforcement to target political opponents.
The Minnesota Democrat responded on X hours after Homeland Security Investigations agents arrived at her home in an early morning search.
“I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.”
“I will not be silenced.”
Agents arrived around 6 a.m., according to Fox News. The Justice Department confirmed that investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant obtained by the department as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.
Fox News Digital reported that the probe centers on alleged fraud involving Omar’s immigration paperwork, which her late father completed when she was a child. The Justice Department has not publicly detailed the underlying allegations.
Omar’s office separately denied wrongdoing and accused the administration of abusing its power.
The search follows border czar Tom Homan’s disclosure in September that Omar was under criminal investigation. It comes just weeks before the midterm elections, with the Minnesota congresswoman seeking another term in the House.
