A shooting in Texas has become the newest flashpoint for ICE and it’s mission to enforce US immigration law.
What we know so far is already being muddied by the agenda-driven narratives put forward by Democrat leaders in Austin.
In a nutshell, ICE shot a man while carrying out an operation this morning in the left-leaning Capital of Texas.
Fox News captured some of the first moments following the shooting, as news spread and the first protestors started to converge on ICE Agents near the scene:
Almost immediately US Congressman Greg Casar — who represents that area of Texas and heads up the Progressive caucus in the US House — came out swinging:
Here’s the full text of his statement put out after the shooting, before details were even known:
It doesn’t take long for Progressive Democrats to start characterizing ICE as law breakers, insinuating they’re all liars, and presuming that ICE surely must have been at fault.
It’s funny how such a jam-packed set of premature ASSUMPTIONS can start off with the phrase, “As the facts emerge…”.
But Rep. Casar isn’t the only Democrat in the Texas town of Austin accusing ICE and crying foul right out of the gate.
The Dem Mayor of Austin would also later take the same stance as Casar at a press conference mentioned in this coverage from Fox News:
Dem Mayor Kirk Watson and Austin’s Police Chief Lisa Davis took center stage at the aforementioned press conference.
Mayor Watson took up where Congressman Casar left off — blaming and insinuating ICE had acted improperly and illegally — as covered by Fox News:
An Austin City Councilman went so far as to put forward his own narrative as to what transpired during the shooting.
As Nick Sortor reported on X, the account put forward by the Councilman was that ICE shot the man multiple times and from behind.
(I’ll go ahead and spill the beans up front — neither of those points made by the Councilman turned out to be accurate.)

To be clear, and to reiterate what the Police Chief stated — this is all still very preliminary.
There is actually a video making the rounds on social media that appears to show one angle of the moment of the shooting, though from a distance away.
You do hear multiple shots in that video, though how many rounds actually impacted the person is impossible to know from this clip.
You also can’t tell from the video I’m about to show you where the rounds were actually being fired from; whether from the ICE Agent who exits the SUV in the foremost of the frame, or from the other side of the camera.
All that to say simply… this video doesn’t clear up the preliminary reports.
But in the interest of reporting it like I see it, here’s that video as shared by Noteworthy News on X:

It would not take long before the crowds of protestors had grown and started confronting both ICE and the local Police.
Fox News caught some of that action as well, seen in this report following the press conference:

More specific details of the shooting then started to emerge.
The man is reportedly in stable condition after taking a single bullet — which would corroborate the real-time factcheck by Police Chief Davis.
The Mayor, meanwhile, seems more interested in whether ICE Agents stuck around to become characters in his personal legal vendetta, as just reported by the Associated Press:
And as I write, Fox News has just reported that the man shot was indeed an illegal alien from Venezuela.

And the reports of Police having to use tear gas on protestors.
Surprise, surprise.
Would that new information contradict the premature Democrat narratives?
At the very least, it shows that ICE wasn’t willy-nilly running around the streets of Austin dropping random people from behind.

The man was supposed to be on his way out the door, imminently removed from the US — according to this newest update from Fox News,
The fuel has definitely been added to the fires created by Democrat agitators.
It is one thing to politically fight out immigration issues.
It’s a whole other thing to knowingly spout false narratives and lavishly pour them over an already heated situation, endangering the lives of law enforcement.
This story is far from over, and is sure to remain at the forefront of the issue in the coming days.
