Fox News is bringing a member of one of America’s most recognizable political families into its lineup.
Billy Bush, the veteran entertainment broadcaster and nephew of former President George H.W. Bush, has joined Fox News Media as a contributor.
The network says Bush will focus on culture and entertainment across its television programs and other platforms.
His first appearance in the new role is scheduled for Tuesday night on “Jesse Watters Primetime” at 8 p.m. Eastern.
The first industry report laid out both the new job and the timing of Bush’s Fox debut:
Variety reported that Bush is expected to appear across multiple Fox News Media platforms while continuing his own independent projects, including the digital program he built after leaving “Extra.” His Fox role is expected to reach beyond a single television appearance or one narrowly defined show.
The move suggests Fox is putting more weight behind coverage of celebrity news, entertainment and the wider culture — territory Bush has covered for decades.
Bush said he is eager to offer Fox viewers his take on the people, ideas and moments shaping American culture, including the forces he believes are trying to tear it down.
That final part sounds like a good fit for a network whose audience has watched Hollywood and the legacy media move steadily left.
The agreement is structured as a contributor role rather than a new daily hosting assignment, and Fox has not announced that Bush will take over an existing program.
That gives Fox room to use Bush when entertainment, celebrity news and the national political conversation overlap, while leaving him free to continue the digital work he has built outside a traditional network schedule.
Fox is not hiring a newcomer who needs to learn the business on air.
Bush spent years as an anchor and East Coast correspondent for “Access Hollywood.” He later hosted the syndicated entertainment program “Extra” from 2019 through 2025.
He also hosts the digital program “Hot Mics With Billy Bush,” where the subject matter stretches beyond celebrity news into politics, sports, technology and popular culture.
Deadline confirmed that Fox plans to use that background for cultural analysis across the network:
Deadline reported that Bush will begin with the Watters appearance and will offer cultural analysis on Fox programs going forward as a network contributor.
The outlet also noted the breadth of his resume. In addition to his entertainment-news work, Bush hosted the nationally syndicated “Billy Bush Show” on radio, covered the Olympics for NBC and reported from major awards shows.
His live-event experience includes the Golden Globes, Grammys and Academy Awards, along with coverage of the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
That background gives Fox a contributor who can discuss more than red carpets. Bush has spent years interviewing public figures, working live television and watching the entertainment business shape the wider culture.
Then there is the political family connection.
Bush is a nephew of former President George H.W. Bush.
He is also a first cousin of former President George W. Bush and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
That pedigree guarantees people will notice the hire, although Fox is bringing him aboard for his broadcasting experience rather than as a political analyst.
The move also marks a major return to network television nearly a decade after Bush’s career was derailed.
He briefly co-hosted the third hour of NBC’s “Today” in 2016. That job ended after the release of a 2005 “Access Hollywood” recording featuring a private conversation between Bush and President Trump.
Bush returned to television with “Extra” in 2019 and rebuilt his career through television, radio and digital media.
The ten-year comeback angle was front and center in another current report:
Entertainment Weekly traced the long road back: the loss of his NBC position in 2016, his return as host of “Extra” in 2019 and now a contributor role that again puts him before a national news audience.
The report noted that Bush stayed with “Extra” through 2025 before expanding his independent work with “Hot Mics.”
Fox is now giving that comeback its biggest network platform yet, but the role is tailored to the lane Bush knows best rather than forcing him into a conventional hard-news anchor position.
The contributor title also gives the network time to see where Bush connects with viewers before attaching him to a fixed schedule. For Bush, it is a return to national network television without abandoning the independent show that helped him rebuild.
For Fox, the hire arrives during a period of visible change.
The network parted ways with longtime anchor Maria Bartiromo earlier this month and has continued adjusting its roster across news, business and opinion programming.
Bush will not replace Bartiromo or step into a single anchor chair. His contributor agreement gives Fox flexibility to bring him into different shows when culture and entertainment collide with the news.
That happens more often than ever.
Hollywood activism, corporate pressure campaigns, online censorship fights and the entertainment industry’s treatment of conservative audiences are now part of the political conversation.
Bush has spent most of his professional life inside that world. Fox is betting that experience will translate into useful analysis for viewers who are tired of hearing culture explained only through a liberal lens.
His first test comes Tuesday night with Jesse Watters.
After years of rebuilding away from a major network-news desk, Billy Bush is officially back — and this time, he is joining Fox.
