‘Fox & Friends’ Airs Monday — Then President Trump Lets Fox News Have It

President Trump let Fox News have it Monday morning, accusing the network of spending too much time defending Democrats and promoting their views while shortchanging Republicans.

His message was blunt: Fox is trying so hard to be politically correct that it is giving Democrats an unearned megaphone before a conservative audience.

The post came after Monday’s Fox & Friends broadcast, but President Trump did not identify the specific segment that prompted it. The exact trigger remains unclear.

Here is the post that put Fox News directly in the line of fire:

Trump claims Fox News is worse (for him) than ever: "Fox spends more time defending Dumocrats, and putting on their views versus their Republican opponent, than at any time in the History of FoxNews. It’s ridiculous! FoxNews is trying too hard to be Politically Correct!"

In his statement, Trump said Fox News was devoting more time to defending Democrats and presenting their positions than to showing viewers what their Republican opponents were saying.

He called the situation ridiculous and accused the network of going overboard in its attempt to appear politically correct.

Then he offered viewers an alternative: Watch his Wichita, Kansas, rally on Right Side Broadcasting Network.

Just the News reported that Trump issued the criticism Monday morning after Fox & Friends, arguing that the network spends more time defending Democrats and airing their views than presenting the positions of their Republican opponents.

The report noted that Trump did not identify the particular segment that prompted his complaint. He instead directed viewers to Right Side Broadcasting Network for coverage of his rally in Wichita, Kansas.

The timing followed a Fox & Friends broadcast that included discussion of Maine Democratic Senate candidate Troy Jackson standing by his remark that Republican Sen. Susan Collins should “shut up.”

That segment provides important context, but there is no evidence it was the confirmed cause of Trump’s post. He never named the segment or said that Jackson’s appearance was the final straw.

Here is the Maine Senate discussion that aired around the time of Trump’s complaint:

This was not Trump’s first warning to Fox News about the airtime it gives candidates running against Republicans.

Just the News reported that Trump raised similar objections earlier in October after Fox aired extended interviews with Nebraska independent Senate candidate Dan Osborn and Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

Osborn was seeking a Senate seat in Nebraska as an independent, while El-Sayed was running as a Democrat in Michigan. Trump argued that Fox was giving both men valuable national exposure without providing comparable treatment to their Republican opponents.

The report also detailed Trump’s frustration with Fox & Friends Sunday over what he considered inadequate coverage of his Ohio rally. He warned that viewers could abandon a network that minimized his events while elevating candidates running against Republicans.

Meanwhile, the enthusiasm outside Trump’s Kansas rally offered a striking contrast to the political programming he was condemning. A large crowd was already lined up before he took the stage:

Fox News built its dominance with millions of viewers who wanted an alternative to the liberal media machine.

Those viewers are not tuning in to watch Democrats receive generous platforms while Republican candidates and massive Trump rallies are pushed aside.

President Trump’s warning could not be much clearer: Fox can remember who made it successful, or those viewers can find another channel that will.
