Well, this is awkward.
A former Fox News star allegedly fired off a brutal private assessment of the woman who would go on to marry Donald Trump Jr.
The woman behind the messages is Kimberly Guilfoyle, President Trump’s ambassador to Greece and Don Jr.’s former fiancée.
And if the newly reported texts are authentic, Guilfoyle was not buying the early public story about Don Jr. and Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson.
According to Trending Politics, the messages were sent to former Kentucky congressional candidate Eric Deters as rumors about Don Jr. and Anderson were exploding into public view during the final months of his engagement to Guilfoyle.
Guilfoyle allegedly dismissed the reports as lies, described Anderson as a friend of Don Jr.’s ex-wife and accused her of chasing attention through the Daily Mail. One apparent typo turned “clout chasing” into “cloud chasing,” but the meaning of the insult was hardly difficult to miss.
The timing makes the exchange especially uncomfortable in hindsight for everyone involved.
The Daily Mail published photographs in September 2024 that reportedly showed Don Jr. kissing Anderson at an August brunch in Palm Beach.
Don Jr. and Guilfoyle were still publicly regarded as engaged, and neither side has provided a complete public timeline for when that relationship ended.
Anderson was later seen seated directly behind the couple at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
She and Don Jr. eventually married in May 2026.
Guilfoyle allegedly dismissed Anderson as a publicity seeker.
She became Mrs. Donald Trump Jr.
But the personal drama is only one piece of a much larger and more serious dispute involving the leaked material.
CBS News reported that it reviewed a 292-page file supplied by Deters containing communications, photographs and a lengthy account of his dealings with Guilfoyle and other figures in Trump’s orbit.
Deters claimed Guilfoyle sought $100,000 to cover an American Express bill while suggesting she could help him gain access to administration officials. He told CBS that he viewed the proposed arrangement as a quid pro quo, while also saying he never made the payment.
The network reported that White House officials had been told the messages were authentic. It also said Guilfoyle’s attorney, Jesse Binnall, disputed that conclusion and challenged the authenticity of the entire collection of material circulated by Deters.
That denial matters.
These are allegations tied to messages supplied by a man who now has an open dispute with Guilfoyle. They should not be treated as proven simply because the screenshots are vivid or the personal language is explosive.
Still, the controversy has become serious enough that Vice President JD Vance was asked about it publicly.
Vance called the scenario troubling but stopped short of accepting the allegations as fact.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio likewise declined to litigate the matter in public, saying he was not going to address it in that setting.
That is the responsible line for administration officials while the authenticity dispute remains unresolved.
But politically, the leaked texts have already done damage.
They offer a deeply unflattering picture of the final stretch of Guilfoyle’s relationship with Don Jr., and they place private romantic resentment beside far more consequential allegations about money and access.
Maybe the material is authenticated conclusively. Maybe the attorney’s challenge punches a hole through the entire package.
Either way, one part of this saga is no longer in dispute: Bettina Anderson stayed, and she is now Don Jr.’s wife.
She is Donald Trump Jr.’s wife.
