Things aren’t looking too good for former Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski.

Lewandowski who’s served as President Trump’s first campaign manager in 2015 and later served as a senior advisor in 2024, is currently being investigated by the Department of Justice.

The investigation stems from allegations that Lewandowski profited from his role as an aide at the Department of Homeland Security by awarding government contracts from which he personally benefited.

The Guardian reported more on the investigation:

Corey Lewandowski, a former political adviser to Donald Trump and top aide at the Department of Homeland Security, is under criminal investigation over allegations he profited off his role in the US government, three US officials and a fourth person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Thursday.

The investigation began with a criminal referral to the justice department from the internal watchdog at DHS, according to the four people. The DHS inspector general’s office has been investigating Lewandowski’s involvement in the handling of certain government contracts, according to one of the people, a DHS official.

A lawyer for Lewandowski, Adam Trigg, did not immediately respond to ‌a request for comment. The ‌investigation was first reported in the Wall Street Journal, which quoted Lewandowski’s lawyer as saying that his client denies ‌all allegations of wrongdoing.

The DoJ has not yet issued subpoenas or other legal demands in the criminal investigation, according to one of the people. All four of the people spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The Hill provided a response from President Trump:

President Trump said Thursday that he has “no idea” why the Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating Corey Lewandowski for misconduct, but that anyone working for him has to be honest.

Those that are not honest, Trump went on to say, will face the DOJ.

“I want my people to be honest, and if they’re not going to be honest, they have to be prosecuted,” Trump told reporters before departing the White House in response to a question about a reported investigation of Lewandowski.

“I view it as if people are not honest, they’re stealing from me as president, they’re stealing from me,” he said. “So I want my people to be honest, and if they’re not honest, I’ll have my DOJ go and do whatever they have to do.”

The DOJ is looking into a criminal referral from the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general, according to reports. One accusation alleges he profited from his role.
