The woke mob has targeted another company.

Popular shoe brand, Converse, which saw its rise after being promoted by basketball player Chuck Taylor in the 1930s and has since become a rock and pop culture favorite, is facing backlash after airing what same claim is a “racist” ad.

The backlash has gotten so loud that Converse has issued an apology.

Fox 8 reported what was in Converse’s advertisement that has some people upset:

Sneaker brand Converse is apologizing for an advertisement that drew immense backlash online.

According to People, musician Karina from the girl group Aespa was featured in a Converse campaign meant to promote the Chuck 70 X and Run Star Crush sneakers.

During the ad, the K-pop star was shown standing under the light of a star-shaped spotlight while holding a pair of black high-top sneakers. She was wearing a calf-length white skirt.

The ad went viral, with many social media users finding the imagery racist.

Some users said that the spotlight lighting featured in the ad created an outline that resembled the shape of a Ku Klux Klan hood. Other users thought that the way Karina held the pair of shoes resembled lynching imagery.

Here’s the portion of the ad that has received backlash:

How any American who is remotely educated can look at this horrifying ad & not see a klan hood and the feet of a hanging body…makes me speechless.

I cannot fathom why @Converse would green light something so abhorrent. Lynchings of Black people in the US is NOT ancient history pic.twitter.com/t0fou2Ct4Q

No, you’re not crazy.

Yes, the Converse ad is racist.

Yes, it looks like a Klan outfit.

Yes, it looks like a lynching.

And no, “it’s just a shoe ad” is not a defense. pic.twitter.com/urDiTNuBt6

However many defended Converse:

If you look at this and your first thought is “KKK,” you belong in an asylum. Wake up, white people. They’re grasping at straws and losing. Race sees you. Tribe up. pic.twitter.com/TdhpRQ445h

As usual, black people ALWAYS find something to make themselves victims instead of addressing their over representation in violent crime or being degenerates…

Instead, they found a Converse commercial of some asian chick holding a pair of chucks and made it about the Klan and… https://t.co/HPbhPlPJBF

Converse isn’t the only company that has been targeted by liberals for “racist” ads.

The New York Times reported Target received backlash over one of their Halloween costumes that was advertised on their website:

In August, the retailer Target stopped selling a children’s Halloween costume that many said evoked racist stereotypes of Black Americans.

The product depicted a circus clown costume with accessories including gloves, a top hat and a mask shaped like a grinning mouth with large teeth.

Critics said those features, in addition to a promotional image that appeared to show a Black child wearing the costume, echoed caricatures from Jim Crow-era minstrel shows.
