Joe Rogan and fellow comedian Ron White blasted Texas senatorial candidate and current Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) as “too corrupt” to be in office Wednesday.
In an expansive conversation that covered the Texas political landscape, the state’s school system, and more, Rogan and White briefly touched on Paxton.
“That guy’s just too corrupt,” said White. “You know, he’s just a bad egg, and we don’t need him around here.”
Of Rep. James Talarico (D-TX), Paxton’s opposition, Rogan said, “I like his thoughts on the Ten Commandments in schools, in public schools. I think he’s right, and he’s a very religious guy. His position is when you put the Ten Commandments in public schools, what you’re really doing is forcing Christianity to them … and you’re probably pushing them away from Christianity rather than bring — you’re forcing it on them.”
Paxton has been hit with a series of accusations of ethics violations throughout his campaign and in the years that preceded it.
On Sept. 4, The Texas Tribune with ProPublica reported he “appears to have violated federal ethics law in significant ways when filing recent disclosures of his assets and liabilities, creating confusion about his net worth and holdings.”
One of the discrepancies was that he apparently owns seven homes, six of which are currently for rent, but reported no income from any of them. The Tribune also noted that “some current residents and neighbors at those addresses [who] confirmed that the properties were rented.”
The outlet reported there are “two homes in Ocala, Florida; a home and a condo in Austin; a home in College Station, Texas; and a vacation lodge in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.”
