You’ve heard that Western countries are committing civilizational suicide through the adoption of “progressive” policies and dogma, but Canada is committing a quite literal suicide, euthanizing its population one by one.
Canada’s “medical assistance in dying” is the fastest-growing cause of death in Canada as well as the world’s fastest-growing “assisted dying” program. MAID is now the fifth-leading cause of death in Canada, responsible for 5% of all deaths in the country. For comparison, in 2024, more people in Canada were killed by euthanasia than were killed in the United States in gun homicides.

That is not a proportional number statistic, either. In 2024, more Canadians in total were killed by MAID (16,499) than Americans were killed by gun homicides (15,364), despite the U.S. having some 300 million more people.
Canada is not just granting assisted suicide to people with terminal illnesses and just a few short months to live. Canada is putting down people with mental illnesses, the homeless, and people who feel socially isolated, with the flimsiest of pain qualifications being all that is needed to qualify. In Canada, simply having an incurable disease or chronic disability is enough to apply for the government to kill you, even if your death is not imminent. Not only that, but Canada has been hoping to expand its assisted suicide program to grant qualifications to people whose only condition is mental illness.

The result is that Canada’s healthcare system has evolved into a system that tries to push people into killing themselves rather than waste its socialized resources on them. According to one family, an 83-year-old grandmother was recently killed against her will after doctors pushed her into the MAID program with vague prompts. Several Canadians have detailed that doctors have brought MAID up to them unprompted, even when they don’t have terminal conditions, urging them to kill themselves before even considering other options for legitimate healthcare.
As Canada has embraced the progressive devaluation of the human experience and value of human life, it has justified pushing more and more of its own people to kill themselves in the name of “quality of life.” Canadian doctors and the Canadian government leaders think that an increasing portion of their country’s population would be better off dead, an abhorrent worldview to have in either of those two professions, and one that bodes ill for the future of Canada.
