Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) released a memo addressed to “interested parties and allies” highlighting the congresswoman’s influence in the midterm elections as questions brew about her 2028 presidential ambitions.

Ocasio-Cortez, 37, has been floated as a potential Democratic nominee in 2028 and spent much of the midterm season campaigning with marquee candidates to drive up voter turnout. The memo acts as a fact sheet to reference when asked about Ocasio-Cortez’s presidential aspirations.

“In the coming days and weeks, much will be discussed about the future of the Democratic Party and 2028,” the memo said. “You may be asked whether you support her running for President or for Senate in New York or staying in the House of Representatives. We’d recommend you rely on the details of this memo and answer that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez will continue to do what she’s always done: look for ways to do the most good for the most people. But, over the course of the last two years, she has proven herself to be one of the most effective voices in the country for America’s working class.”

The memo cites her “race-changing endorsements in swing districts and deep-blue party primaries,” more than $3 million in contributions to Democrats, and several areas Ocasio-Cortez views as successes in her tenure.

A section titled “fighting the oligarchy” discusses Ocasio-Cortez’s 2025 rally tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), which was a response to Senate Democrats “caving” to President Donald Trump.

“Winning bigger at home” highlights the congresswoman’s sweeping Democratic Primary victory in June, and a subsequent section on the midterms focuses on her travels to battleground districts to stump for hopefuls in the midterm elections, both in the Senate and House.

The memo notes that Ocasio-Cortez has been considered a “top surrogate” for campaigns alongside former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. The latter two are also considered Democratic contenders for 2028.

Among other topics floated as accomplishments are rallies intended to “fight voter suppression,” organizing Latino voters, and her war chest built by small-dollar donors.

HOW 2028 CONTENDERS ARE BOOSTING THEIR BONA FIDES DURING MIDTERM SEASON

While Ocasio-Cortez is among the potential 2028 presidential contenders, critics have often argued that her policies are too far to the Left, as she is an active member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

However, political observers, including potential GOP contender Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), have noted that progressive candidate wins in the midterms could signal hope for Ocasio-Cortez. The congresswoman has supported Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul el Sayed, a progressive Democrat whose potential victory could strengthen the argument that left-wing policies can win in battleground states.
