A routine school bus trip in Calaveras County, CA turned into absolute chaos when a mother smashed a window and climbed in to retrieve her son.
The incident happened on Monday and started after the driver reportedly refused to let students off of the school bus for over an hour.
Witnesses say that the kids had been rowdy, and one student had tried to climb out a bus window, prompting the driver to call law enforcement.
He told students they had to stay on the bus until police arrived.
Parents started showing up and demanding to pick up their kids, but the driver still wouldn’t let them leave.
That’s when one mom, identified as 35-year-old Kathleen Kraker, broke through a window to get her child and confront the driver.

#BREAKING: A California mother has been ARRESTED after she SMASHED A SCHOOL BUS WINDOW window, climbed in, and got her son off the bus after students called their parents saying they were scared and trapped.
According to witnesses, students on a stopped school bus got rowdy.
Some started climbing out the windows and the driver refused to let a single one of them off, keeping them on board for nearly an hour while waiting on police.
Multiple kids called their parents saying they were scared and trapped on a bus with other rowdy kids.
One boy called his mom and she told him: climb out the window and get off that bus.
Another mother, witnesses say, went a different route.
Her child was on that bus, and she wasn’t waiting one more second. She broke the glass to reach him.
She’s now under arrest for “vandalism”
Following this incident, Kathleen Kraker was arrested on a felony vandalism charge.

KLTV reported further:
Some of the students called or texted their parents from inside the bus. According to KCRA, one parent showed up and broke the bus’s glass door to get inside and confront the bus driver.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a disturbance between a parent and the bus driver. According to the sheriff’s office, the parent was arrested and charged with vandalism.
Video from inside the bus, obtained by KOVR, shows the chaotic scene inside the school bus as multiple students leave through the windows while the bus was stopped. Other students remained on the bus until they were given the all-clear to get off.
At some point in the video, an adult woman is seen climbing through a bus window. She is then seen jumping over the seats and confronting the bus driver.
This whole thing is absolutely wild, and there are so many unanswered questions.
Like, is it this school’s policy to essentially hold students hostage even when parents are demanding to pick them up?
Secondly, why did it take law enforcement over an hour to respond initially, when they apparently showed up pretty quick to arrest the mother who broke into the bus?
