WATCH: Pirro Shuts Down Reporter’s Question About Reflecting Pool Case

The media has attempted to use a difference of opinion on one case as evidence of dissension within the ranks of the Trump administration.

But when US District Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro was hit with a question about the investigation into vandalism of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool, she refused to take the bait.

According to The Hill:

When speaking to journalists about a DOJ transnational criminal organization task force, one member of the press asked Pirro if Trump is pushing her to “revisit the reflecting pool case,” to which she responded that she wouldn’t “go there.”

“Oh, why did I know that was coming? That’s why I didn’t call on you first,” she said. “Well, first of all, I’m here to talk about one of the biggest problems that American people have right now. And I’m not going to talk about any other issue. I know you’d love to, but I’m not going there.”

The reporter brought up Trump’s desire to revive charges against four people accused of vandalizing the Reflecting Pool. Last week, a Washington judge described the president’s comments about Olympic canoeist David Hearn, whose vandalism charges Pirro dropped last month, as a “unique threat of meritless re-prosecution.”

The exchange drew some social media attention:

Tell liberals to keep their grubby hands to themselves. Why put your hands into the water???

REPORTER: President Trump made clear it’s very important to him

PIRRO: POTUS has a right to decide what he wants to do and what’s important. He’s shown us already that this EO on crypto fraud for Americans is a PRIORITY. NEXT. NOT on the pool!

She’s busting fraudsters and the press just wants to talk about Trump and the Reflecting Pool. Not shocked!

Yahoo News added:

Pirro’s news conference is the first since her surprise move to dismiss the felony indictment against Hearn in August. In a filing, Pirro admitted that damage to the Reflecting Pool was likely caused by “botched” installation and not by vandals.

The move prompted outrage from Trump who said Pirro “choked” in her handling of the case, and later refused to rule out firing Pirro who he urged to “re-visit” the decision to charge Hearn.

“U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro should re-visit her hastily made decision [to dismiss Hearn’s indictment],” Trump wrote in an Aug. 7 post on social media.
