Judge Judy Sheindlin has spent decades cutting through excuses, and she just delivered a ruling the America-hating crowd will not enjoy.
In a new USA Today interview, the television icon defended the country that rewarded excellence, entrepreneurship and ambition. Her message to people who move here—or live here—while constantly trashing America was as blunt as anything she ever said from the bench.
Judge Judy told them to stop trying to remake the greatest and most successful nation in the world into the failed systems they claim to prefer.

USA Today reports that Sheindlin was specifically railing against socialism during a wide-ranging interview at her Greenwich, Connecticut, home. She praised the American system for encouraging brilliance and excellence, pointing to the polio vaccine, Apple, Amazon and advances in artificial intelligence as products of a culture that rewards people who build, invent and achieve.
That is the part the anti-capitalist class never wants to admit.
They enjoy the technology, medicine, abundance and freedom created by the American system, then demand that the country abandon the very principles that made those achievements possible.
The interview also found Sheindlin reflecting on the division, antisemitism, racism, violence and cruelty she sees in the country. Her answer was not to tear down the system that produced freedom and prosperity.
It was to recover respect, civility and the willingness to recognize that people possess different talents and abilities.
Milan then identified USA Today as the original source, matching both the branding on the recording and the published interview:
Sheindlin’s remarks arrived as she marked 30 years on television and prepared to step away from appearing on the courtroom bench. But retirement has not softened her willingness to say what millions of Americans are thinking.
CBS’s 90-minute Judge Judy: Unfiltered, Unforgettable special looks back at the three decades that made Sheindlin one of television’s most recognizable personalities. The program includes Sheindlin telling her own story along with interviews from friends, family members and major entertainment figures.
Her defense of America was not a one-off burst of frustration. Back in 2020, while campaigning with Michael Bloomberg, she rejected Bernie Sanders’ call for a political revolution and said America did not need to be torn down and rebuilt.
The older video supplies the historical receipt. Judge Judy’s language was just as fierce then:
TheWrap reported at the time that Sheindlin called America the most perfect country in the world and vowed to fight the socialist revolution being promoted by Sanders. She was campaigning with Bloomberg in Oklahoma City when she delivered that warning, arguing that the United States did not need the sweeping revolution Sanders was promising.
Six years later, her argument has not changed: America’s success came from capitalism, competition and respect for excellence—not from punishing achievement or importing socialism.
Her 2020 remarks also expose the consistency behind the new interview. She did not discover patriotism for a retirement special or borrow a popular line for one news cycle.
She has been making the same case for years, even when her preferred presidential candidate was no conservative.
There is a reason that people risk everything to reach the United States while almost nobody flees America in search of socialism.
A country can acknowledge its flaws without pretending its entire foundation is rotten. It can improve without surrendering the freedom, enterprise and personal responsibility that made it exceptional.
Judge Judy made that case in language nobody could misunderstand.
If someone truly believes another system is better, she has a simple answer: go live under it. Just do not come to America, enjoy everything it offers, and then demand that Americans tear it all down.
