A Hollywood actor was left bloodied and dazed after two masked men ambushed him outside an upscale West Hollywood grocery store and stole his watch at gunpoint.

The victim was Keegan Allen, the 37-year-old actor best known for playing Toby Cavanaugh on Pretty Little Liars.

Allen said he was loading groceries into his vehicle outside Laurel Supply on Thursday night when two men dressed in black approached him.

One carried a silver handgun. The other had a knife.

The confrontation unfolded fast. Surveillance footage shared after the attack appears to show Allen surrendering the watch before one of the assailants repeatedly strikes him in the head with the gun. Both men then run toward a waiting vehicle.

Moments later, Allen recorded himself walking through the parking lot with blood streaming from a wound near his forehead. He looked stunned, out of breath and still trying to process what had just happened.

Allen told followers that the attackers threatened to kill him over the watch. His caption reduced the nightmare to one brutal line: “My life for a watch.”

ABC News reported that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at approximately 9:05 p.m. The victim told deputies that one assailant pointed a gun while the second brandished a knife and demanded his watch and bracelet.

The sheriff’s account said the gunman then struck the victim in the face. The suspects escaped in an unknown vehicle with the watch, leaving Allen with a laceration to his forehead.

Los Angeles County Fire personnel evaluated Allen at the scene. Authorities said he was not transported by ambulance, although Allen later indicated in social-media comments that he sought hospital care and believed he had suffered a concussion.

The actor also made his anger unmistakable. He declared that West Hollywood was no longer safe and publicly challenged California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over whether the region’s surveillance cameras would help find the attackers.

That question now hangs over an investigation with unusually vivid evidence. Allen’s post included what appears to be video of the robbery itself, while the area also has a network of license-plate readers and live cameras intended to help law enforcement identify suspects and vehicles.

The Los Angeles Times reported that investigators referred only to a male adult in their statement. The time, location, weapons and sequence still matched Allen’s account: two men approached, demanded a watch and bracelet, struck him with the handgun and escaped in a vehicle.

The paper’s review of the grainy parking-lot footage found that Allen held out his arms and removed his watch while the masked men threatened him. One assailant then appeared to pistol-whip him twice before both men ran.

Investigators asked anyone who recognizes the attackers or has other information about the getaway vehicle to contact the West Hollywood station. No arrests had been announced as the search continued.

The City of West Hollywood called the robbery deeply upsetting and said it was coordinating with the sheriff’s department. City officials also said additional patrols would be deployed in commercial areas and places where people gather.

FOX 11 Los Angeles reported that Allen was attacked while loading groceries outside the luxury market. The outlet said its report was based on Allen’s own video, the surveillance footage he shared and reporting from the scene.

Allen became a television fixture during his run on Pretty Little Liars from 2010 to 2017. He later played Liam Walker on Walker and appeared this year on The Rookie.

None of that fame offered any protection in the parking lot. The video shows an encounter that was over in seconds and could easily have ended far worse.

The two suspects remained at large as the investigation continued. Anyone with information has been asked to contact detectives at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station at 310-855-8850.
