The Senate has officially returned from its August recess.

And, there’s still no sign of Sen. Mitch McConnell.

However, after around an hour of the Senate convening, Capitol Police were spotted surrounding the 84-year-old’s residence in D.C.

Nick Sortor shared a video from the scene:

At this time, it is unclear why there were so many police outside McConnell’s home.

But, concerns are only growing about the Senator’s condition.

Keep in mind that, aside from photos in the hospital, McConnell has not been publicly seen since before his fall in June.

Independent reported:

Mitch McConnell, the former leader of the Republican Senate caucus, was a no-show on Monday as the chamber returned from its August recess, extending his summer-long, mystery-shrouded absence from his elected post.

The 84-year-old Kentucky senator, who has not reported for duty since he suffered a fall at his Washington, D.C. home on June 14, remained in the hospital and later a rehab center for weeks before he was discharged in early August. During that time, he faced sharp criticism, including from his state’s Gov. Andy Beshear, a Democrat, for grudgingly revealing scant details about his condition, largely in response to reporting, while questions about his illness and ability to serve intensified.

McConnell later said in a release that he suffered pneumonia after his initial hospitalization. The public has not heard from him directly during that time. Beshear repeatedly called on McConnell to release a video statement confirming his ability to return to work, but was rebuffed.

The senator’s return to Capitol Hill was left shrouded in mystery as the Senate gaveled in Monday afternoon, with his aides only telling reporters that they “hoped” he would be able to return this week, unsure if it would occur.

The Senate is set to remain in Washington for three weeks before once again leaving town ahead of the midterm elections. The House of Representatives is set to depart at the end of the week, making progress on key legislative priorities a difficult prospect.

We are told that Sen. McConnell should be returning to Capitol Hill this week.

Senators and aides to McConnell have stated that he will be back by Wednesday in order to vote on an important farm bill.

From Politico:

Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.), who serves with McConnell on the Agriculture and Appropriations committees, told reporters Monday he expects McConnell to be in the Senate this week for “key” votes — including one in the Agriculture panel Wednesday on the farm bill.

McConnell’s office is keeping silent about the 84-year-old former Republican leader’s intentions since disclosing last month that he had returned home following weeks in the hospital and rehab. But expectations about a return to the Senate have grown among fellow Kentucky Republicans and his GOP colleagues in the Senate.

The senator’s staff has told senior Republicans that he will be back at the Capitol in time for the Wednesday committee vote on the farm bill, which stalled earlier this summer amid his absence, according to three other people with direct knowledge of the matter who were also granted anonymity.

His vote is needed to get the GOP-written farm bill out of the Agriculture Committee after Chair John Boozman told POLITICO that he is intending to have another vote this week.

Take a look at what folks are saying about McConnell’s lengthy absence online:

TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS!

95 days MIA while taxpayers pay his salary and the Senate stays stuck.

The contempt these establishment elites have for the American people is disgusting. Show up or resign.

You’d never get away with this in a normal job.

Miss that many days with barely a word and they’d have you out.

Different rules for them lot, innit.
