We have another update on the story of Baby Gabriel — a newborn baby whose life was saved by the brave surrogate mother who refused to kill him in the womb.

This precious child was diagnosed with a treatable heart condition at 20 weeks gestation.

After learning this, his biological parents demanded that the surrogate mother, McKenna West, get an abortion.

She refused and fled to Texas, where Attorney General Ken Paxton promised to keep Baby Gabriel safe.

Last week, the baby was safely born at a hospital in Texas.

If you missed it, you can read our previous update on the story here:

Now, we have some good news and bad news to share with you.

The good news is that Baby Gabriel, or Rumi as his biological parents have named him, is alive.

He has received a life-saving heart surgery and by all accounts, is doing well.

But, the bad news is that the baby’s biological parents, Nasheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed, have filed a $100K lawsuit against McKenna West for refusing to abort their son.

Here are the details:

BREAKING: The California couple who hired Alaska nurse McKenna West as a surrogate have sued her for $100,000+ after she refused their demand to abort the baby over a treatable heart defect.

West fled to Texas, gave birth to the boy she calls Gabriel on August 12, and Texas AG Ken Paxton intervened to keep him in care.

The biological parents now have custody of the baby they have named Rumi and accuse West of breaching a contract that paid her $60,000 and included an abortion clause.

Nasheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed are demanding that McKenna pay them a life-altering sum of money for her alleged “outrageous conduct.”

Apparently, it’s “outrageous” for a mother to refuse to murder the baby she is carrying in her own womb.

I guess ‘my body, my choice’ doesn’t go both ways?

The biological parents claim she caused them “emotional distress.”

TMZ reported further on the lawsuit:

In the suit, Nausheen and Omar are asking a judge to award them more than $100K in damages from McKenna for breaching the deal … plus unspecified damages for the “malicious, outrageous conduct” they believe she committed.

Nausheen and Omar said they paid $60K to McKenna during the pregnancy, per their surrogacy contract. They claim the surrogacy contract had an abortion clause, which allowed them to terminate the pregnancy. At around 20 weeks, the child was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a life-threatening medical condition.

The biological parents said McKenna had two previous pregnancies and was well aware of the journey … and Nausheen and Omar deny they launched a campaign of threats to force McKenna to follow through with the abortion.

The suit claimed Nausheen and Omar have suffered emotional distress due to McKenna’s actions.

Are you kidding me?

Imagine how much “emotional distress” this couple caused McKenna West by threatening her to kill the life growing inside her.

And yet, they are the ones suing.

Even more ridiculously, the biological parents plan on keeping Baby Gabriel now that he is born — despite all the alleged “emotional distress” they’ve experienced because he wasn’t aborted.

In fact, they have now claimed custody of the child that they wanted to kill right up until his birth and named him Rumi.

How messed up is that?

But, McKenna West isn’t giving up easily.

She is currently preparing a legal battle to take custody of the baby whose life she saved.

The New York Post has more:

The mother is preparing an all-out legal battle to become Gabriel’s legal parent.

“She is seeking parentage of the child because she gave birth in Texas, and in Texas, if you give birth to a child, it’s your child,” Wilson said.

However, reproductive law attorney Marla Neufeld previously told The Post that the surrogate has virtually no legal claim to the child.

Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is a congenital heart defect that requires multiple surgeries and leaves survivors facing lifelong medical care and potentially serious health complications.

“Every life matters. No woman should be forced to end the life of the baby she is carrying — including me … Baby Gabriel should receive a chance at life,” West said told The Post in a statement.

Before giving birth to Baby Gabriel, McKenna West spoke to Megyn Kelly about the legal troubles she faced for refusing to have an abortion.

Watch a clip from that here:

The surrogate who refused to abort the baby she was carrying is now being sued by the biological parents who have since taken custody of the child.

Nausheen Gilkar & Omar Ahmed are suing 28-year-old McKenna West for over $100,000.

> West says no to abortion
> West gives birth
> Parents take custody of child
> Parents sue her for giving birth to that child

Absolutely insane.

What are your thoughts on all this?
