A new complication has arisen for Somali immigrant Ilhan Omar, the Democrat representing a Somali immigrant-populated congressional district in Minnesota, who is under investigations that include for alleged immigrant fraud as well as financial manipulation.

It’s that “Ilhan Omar is not the ‘real name’ of the Minnesota congresswoman, Fox News Digital has confirmed,” according to the network’s own reporting.

Turns out the entire life of Ilhan “Omar” is a lie
‼
Will the real Ilhan Elmi please stand up
😂

Her home recently was searched based on a search warrant, and legacy media groups want access to it. A motion pending in court states, “Before the Court are three Applications to unseal ex parte materials and proceedings related to a federal search warrant for the personal residence in the District of Columbia of Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar…”

A source, regarding why there was an aka reference, tellingly informed Fox, “That’s not her real name.”

One issue facing her is whether she or her father committed immigration fraud when filling out her immigration paperwork.

She claims to have been 17 when that happened, and she was granted citizenship under her father’s application. However, after she was elected to Congress she had staff members contact a wide range of reference resources with instructions to change her birth year from 1981, which would have made her 18 and an adult at the time, to 1982.

Her family members have been subpoenaed and some already questioned in the federal investigation.

Conservative personality Will Chamberlain first posted the motion on X speculating that the “DOJ believes [Omar] is present in the United States under a false identity,” the report said.

“Fox News Digital has now confirmed with multiple sources familiar with the investigation that Omar is not the congresswoman’s birth name,” the network said.

No charges have been filed against her, but online speculation suggests that if she’s convicted of any of multiple charges that could develop, she could face denaturalization and even deportation.

It was Nathan Hansen, formerly an immigration judge, who cited the alleged use of an alias, and noted, “You think of all the types of documents somebody like her might have filled out. There’d be federal student loan and student aid applications, maybe federal housing related applications, maybe public assistance applications, passport applications, passport information and driver’s license information, Real I.D. information [and] voting information.”

He said many criminal charges could result.

“If this is not, like, a real legal name, it’s got some legal backing to it that every type of government form she’s filled out in her entire existence might be called into question,” Hansen said.

Further, long have there been allegations she legally married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, in order to give him legal status in the U.S. She has denied claims he was her brother.

She has blamed President Trump for the allegations and search for evidence.

Barack Obama, who is well familiar with questions about his own background, posted online a lengthy defense of Omar:

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Interestingly, he avoided any mention of Omar’s decision to insist that her birth year be changed from 1981 to 1982 in multiple reference locations.

Obama also complains about the Trump administration pursuing evidence against New York Attorney General Letitia James, who assembled a massive series of mortgage fraud allegations against Trump, obtaining a half a billion dollar judgment from a leftist judge, a judgment later erased on appeal.

Further, James herself later was investigated for … mortgage fraud.
