Stephen A. Smith says he’s a Democrat — but he also said one of President Trump’s most ardent loyalists could change that.
We’ve seen a rash of Democrats abandoning their party and voting for Republicans.
In many cases lifelong Democrats have been switching parties ever since Biden’s dethroning, and the subsequent failed elitist ordination of Kamala Harris.
Is Stephen Smith about to be the next domino to fall in that long line of Democrat refugees?
The popular ESPN personality made the comments during a recent podcast episode.
In February of this year Smith openly considered making a run for President in 2028 even though he has been increasingly critical of his own Democratic Party.
During the podcast he credited his friendship with Trump-endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds as the precursor for even imagining a shift from Democrat to Republican.
Here’s a clip from that conversation as Smith welcomed Donalds onto his show:
ESPN host Stephen A. Smith said Thursday that Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) COULD MAKE HIM A REPUBLICAN, praising the Trump-backed gubernatorial frontrunner days before Florida Republicans choose their nominee to succeed Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“And I ain’t no d-mn Republican. But that…

The thing is, that doesn’t seem to be a one-off comment.
Stephen Smith hasn’t merely been critical of the Democratic Party, he’s also been VERY vocally supportive of several top officials in the Trump Administration.
He even stated that he would vote for President Trump’s current Secretary of State over the most widely predicted Democrat candidates for President in an imagined 2028 matchup, according to
Fox News:
ESPN host Stephen A. Smith said Thursday that Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., could make him a Republican, praising the Trump-backed gubernatorial frontrunner days before Florida Republicans choose their nominee to succeed Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“And I ain’t no d— Republican. But that mean if anybody could make me one, it would be him. I’m just going to keep it a buck. I’m just letting you know,” Smith said.
“He’s the real deal. Make no mistake about it. I’ve seen him battling with Democrats. I’ve seen him battling with people on different shows, whatever. He ain’t backing up. He knows his stuff. OK? I talk to him all the time. All the time. And I ain’t got nothing bad to say about him.”
A Donalds campaign official confirmed to Fox News Digital Friday that Smith and Donalds are friends.
The comments continue Smith’s increasing openness to Republican candidates. In March, he challenged Democrats to earn Black votes rather than take them for granted.
Days later, he told Sean Hannity that, despite being a Democrat, he would support Secretary of State Marco Rubio over prominent Democrats, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Vice President Kamala Harris. (Emphasis added.)
To actually listen to Smith describe the qualifications, giving his take on people like Rubio and JD Vance, you’d almost think he had swapped parties already!
Just check out this clip shared on Monday by a popular X account in which Smith points out that any Democrat Presidential hopeful will have a lot to contend with in 2028 going up against either Rubio or Vance:
Stephen A. Smith showers Marco Rubio with praise: says he’s “the real deal,” and his credentials are “PRETTY FREAKING IMPECCABLE.”
High marks for JD Vance and Gov. DeSantis, too.
SMITH: “JD Vance knows how to handle himself in front of a camera. He's younger, he's sharp, he's…

And here is the full text of that X post from The Vigilant Fox for those who would rather read the highlights:
He’s younger, he’s sharp, he’s articulate. Marco Rubio has been a longtime senator, is the Secretary of State, Director of National Security, whose credentials are pretty freaking impeccable.”
“Both of them articulate themselves very well. In Rubio’s case, he’s bilingual, of Cuban descent, and that ain’t gonna hurt him.”
“There’s hope on the horizon once Trump leaves office… On the REPUBLICAN side. Say what you want about DeSantis, he’s an executive. I got some issues with him… But I got news for you… I don’t hear too many people complaining about the state of Florida. And I ain’t gonna be no hypocrite. I MOVED THERE.”
“Rubio, his nationals, his foreign policy experience, being the Secretary of State for this country, very articulate, knows how to deal with combativeness, bilingual, got an Hispanic populace out there that respects the hell out of him.”
“I think Rubio is the real deal. I think Rubio is the real deal. I think Governor DeSantis is the real deal. These are formidable candidates that will stand in front of any Democrat believing they can eat them alive!”
“Do you think Kamala Harris or AOC can deal with them?”
“Gavin Newsom can argue against anybody. Sounds smooth as hell right up until a minute you look at California… and all of a sudden you change your mind.”
These are not the words of a Republican. This is coming from a Kamala Harris voter who later admitted he “regrets” his decision.
And if Democrats keep going the route of the communist DSA, they’re going to lose people like Stephen A. Smith for good before 2028. (Emphasis added.)
As pointed out in that post, Smith actually voted for Kamala Harris and later said he regretted doing so.
Is the tidal surge of Democrats who exited their failed party over?
It doesn’t sound like it.
And I’m wondering if the approaching midterms are likely to bring out a whole new round of quick exits prior to election day.
The fresh revelations confirming all our worst fears about COVID, the shot, and Fauci’s lies are likely fueling the fire Stephen A. Smith and others are spewing towards their own party.
Check out this clip from just a few days ago in which Smith goes completely off on Fauci, admitting he personally jumped through all their hoops and — “it almost killed me”:
Stephen A. Smith looks visibly betrayed as he reveals he took 3 COVID shots and wore a mask just like Fauci told him, and he STILL got COVID, and it almost killed him.
SMITH: “We were told, ‘Hey, you ain’t gonna get Covid if you do that.’ And I GOT COVID!”
“And damn it, it…

Remember, the coverup and lies weren’t singularly a Fauci concoction.
That entire thing belongs squarely in the lap of the Democratic Party as a whole.
Stephen A. Smith is openly talking about the plausibility of becoming a Republican on the heels of those revelations —
how many more Democrats are presently thinking the same thing, for many of the same reasons?
Later in that same podcast, Smith went on to state he had actually lost interest in the Democrat Party in many ways but suggested he was trying not to be rash, as reported by the
New York Post:
A James Madison Institute poll released Aug. 6 placed Donalds at 49% among likely Republican primary voters, 31 points ahead of Lt. Gov. Jay Collins.
Smith described himself as skeptical of Democrats while pressing Donalds on Black voters’ distrust of Trump and concerns about Donalds’ close alignment with the president.
“You heard me ask that question [What have Democrats done for you?]. I ain’t apologizing for it. I’m very skeptical about them,” Smith said.
“Make no mistake about it. I mean, I’ve lost interest in them in a lot of different ways. I’ll be the first to admit it right here on the public airwaves, but I also am trying to be fair-minded when I think about this,” he added. (Emphasis added.)
I don’t know if that’s enough to push Stephen Smith over the edge of the Democrat boat, or else enough to launch him far enough to land squarely in the Republican boat.
But there are a ton of issues that Smith has come out on recently that place him squarely in the same point of reference as conservative Republicans.
And diametrically opposed to the basic doctrines of the Democrat Party.
Check out this clip in which he recently hammered Democrats over the hypocrisy of demanding ID for one thing, but not to vote:
NEW: Stephen A. Smith: “Let me get this straight: If I’m a person in New York who wants to get anywhere from $19 to $30 an hour to shovel snow, I need 2 forms of ID. But Democrats are arguing on Capitol Hill, ‘Why should you need ID to vote?’ Make it make sense.”

There is also the recent appearance with Bill Maher in which Smith takes Democrats to task on their hypocrisy.
He points out that ‘numerous administrations’ have called Iran a problem needing attention, only to do nothing. (
Or, worse than nothing…)
And then Democrats fly off the handle when President Trump actually DID something.
Here’s that clip:
The Streets Are Talking:
Stephen A. Smith calls out the hypocrisy! Democrats have apparently upgraded from Trump Derangement Syndrome to Trump-Induced Amnesia. For years, administration after administration warned that Iran could NEVER be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon and…

Even with the racially charged Karmelo Anthony murder trial, Smith landed far from the wokesters on the left.
He completely refused to play the race card at all in his comments, unlike every leftist argument I’ve heard on any subject — ever.
Is Stephen A. Smith really even a Democrat???
Check out this clip, and judge for yourself:
Stephen A. Smith: “I would give anything to be able to say something definitively in Karmelo Anthony’s defense. If there was a shred of innocence to the incident itself, I would say so. I don’t want to see another black young man going to jail.”
“But I don’t give a d*mn about…

With stances that mimic very closely those of well-reasoned conservatives…
I’m having a hard time still thinking about Stephen A. Smith as a Dem!
And can you imagine what happens after the midterms if/when Rep. Byron Donalds does pull off the win that he seems reasonably well poised to pull off?
Smith will have one of the most fervent Trump supporting Republican governors in America as a good friend.
Does Stephen A. Smith’s Democrat-ism hold up under the weight of those conversations?
Like I always say —
time will tell.
But he has already said that if anyone could pull him into becoming a Republican, it would be the Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida; likely the future Governor of Florida.
So, Stephen… what are you waiting for?
You’re saying all the right things to prove you have a brain and know how to use it.
And you can clearly read the handwriting on the wall as well as anyone in terms of the Democratic Party.
Just come on over, Stephen. We’re waiting for you.
