SICK: Former Central Alabama Pride President ARRESTED for Child Abuse & Sexual Misconduct

The former president of the LGBTQ organization ‘Central Alabama Pride’ has been arrested following disturbing allegations.

Dezmond Turner is facing charges of felony child abuse and sexual misconduct.

Turner was employed at a school in Shelby County.

He has now been accused of slapping a child and slamming their head against a wall on a bus.

Dezmond Turner has been placed on administrative leave as he faces charges.

He has also resigned from Central Alabama Pride after the board voted to strip his leadership.

WBRC has more details on the child abuse incident that led to his arrest:

Court records show Dezmond Turner has been charged with two counts of child abuse torture. According to the documents, Turner is accused of slamming a child’s head multiple times against the wall of the school bus, slapping the child in the face, and forcibly pressing the child’s head against the bus wall.

The documents go on to claim Turner also put his body weight against the child in order for the RN to pass by on the bus, and leaning back to press the child’s head against the wall.

Shelby County Schools confirmed Turner is a district employee and has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

“The school system is cooperating with the appropriate agencies investigating the matter,” the school system said in a statement. “Our students and families place their trust in us each day, and we remain committed to honoring that trust through thoughtful, responsible, and appropriate action.”

Separately, Turner has been charged with sexual misconduct stemming from two incidents in 2023.

Per WVTM 13:

Additionally, an outstanding warrant from January 2024 was executed, charging Turner with sexual misconduct. The complaint alleges that on two occasions in December 2023, Turner grabbed another individual’s crotch and buttocks without consent.

Turner’s bond is set at $15,000 for each child abuse charge and $2,000 for the sexual misconduct charge. Court records indicate he was placed in the Shelby County Jail following his arrest.

It’s absolutely terrible that this man was trusted to be around kids, even with an outstanding warrant for sexual misconduct!
