“She Should Be Dead Too” – GOP Congresswoman Says Lindsay Clancy Should Be Publicly Executed

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) said Lindsay Clancy “should get the death penalty” and that it “should be a public execution.”

“She should get the death penalty. It should be public. It should be a public execution,” Mace told TMZ.

“Her children are dead. She should be dead too,” the South Carolina Republican said.

“She killed her kids. She deserves nothing less. Three kids are dead,” Mace added.

“It should be a warning to women everywhere [that] you don’t kill your kids,” she continued.

Mace said Clancy’s attorney asking President Trump for a pardon was a “nasty” and “ugly” publicity stunt.

The Hill shared further:

Judge William Sullivan, who is overseeing the case, declared a mistrial earlier this month. That came after the jury, composed of nine women and three men, told him they were unable to come to a unanimous decision after seven days of deliberation and five weeks of testimony.

Prior to Sullivan declaring a mistrial, the jurors said they had an 11-1 majority in favor of acquittal by reason of insanity due to postpartum psychosis, with one holdout.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz (R) has not said whether he will retry the case. A court hearing on the case is scheduled for Sept. 29 at Plymouth Superior Court, with Clancy being held at a psychiatric facility until then.

Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, has asked President Trump for a pardon — despite the president not having the authority to do so, as Clancy is facing state, and not federal, charges.

Clancy’s attorney argued she should not be found criminally responsible for strangling her three children to death because she was overmedicated and experiencing postpartum psychosis.

Newsweek noted:

Mace’s proposal could not be imposed on Clancy in Massachusetts, which has not carried out an execution since 1947 and its highest court struck down the state’s capital punishment law in 1984. If convicted of first-degree murder, Clancy could instead be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
