California officials are officially on notice after failing to heed the DOJ’s instructions to ensure non-citizens do not vote in this year’s midterms.
On Wednesday, the Department of Justice gave California 48 hours to review and segregate a list of over 20,000 suspected non-citizens who are registered to vote.
That deadline has now passed, and (surprise, surprise) California has done nothing.
So, now, the DOJ is vowing to prosecute any election officials who tabulate illegal ballots cast by non-citizens.
U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli posted the warning on X:
California on Notice: Federal agencies identified over 20,000 suspected noncitizens registered to vote in California who have already been mailed ballots. Under 18 U.S.C. §§ 611 and 2, officials who knowingly tabulate unlawful ballots risk aiding and abetting a federal offense.…

urges the County and the Secretary of State to temporarily segregate the flagged ballots pending citizenship verification or face legal consequences.
In addition to sending out this warning, the DOJ is suing California for their stubborn refusal to secure the state’s elections.
Reuters reported further:
The US Justice Department on Friday warned Los Angeles County and California election officials they could be liable as abettors of a federal crime if they count mail ballots returned by more than 20,000 people the Trump administration says are probably noncitizens.
The warning to the Los Angeles County Assistant Counsel Peter Bollinger came less than three weeks before the November 3 midterm elections and days after the department gave California 48 hours to review a list of alleged noncitizen voters or face legal action. On Thursday, the Justice Department sued California to block the state from counting the ballots.
“Noncitizen voting in a federal election is a federal crime — and knowingly facilitating such conduct is equally unlawful,” Trent McCotter, the acting US deputy attorney general, wrote in a letter released on Friday. McCotter called on the county and California’s secretary of state to reconsider their refusal to take steps that the Trump administration argues are needed to deter voter fraud.
Later on Friday, President Trump referenced the warning letter sent out to California election officials in a post on Truth Social.
In the post, he commented
“They will all go to jail for a long period of time!!!”

During his recent interview with
Newsmax, President Trump also called out California elections for being rigged.
