Every White House has a significant amount of staff turnover, with each major transition drawing some attention from the public.

But some reports have suggested President Donald Trump is planning to fire a top White House figure, and he’s speaking out to set the record straight.

According to the Daily Caller:

President Donald Trump cut down rumors that he was considering replacing Susie Wiles as White House Chief of Staff Friday.

Politico reported in the Thursday edition of its Playbook newsletter that the president was “considering replacing” Wiles, potentially with White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Trump said there was “zero chance” that he would consider the move. The president called the reports “a fake story” and praised Wiles as “smart” and “tough.”

The reassurance drew some social media discussion:

Gee who couldn't see that coming… Being it was reported by Politico…
🤦‍♂️
it's always a pretty good tell it's BS… every… single… time

An old quote from former University to Texas football coach Darrell Royal comes to mind — “Dance with the one who brung you” — especially when they're as competent as Wiles is.

Mediaite added these details:

Trump aide Natalie Harp printed a copy of Thursday’s Playbook and gave it to the president, according to two people familiar with the episode cited by Politico Friday.

The story reported that Trump had privately sounded out allies about replacing Wiles.

Three people familiar, however, described the resulting reaction to Playbook’s bombshell as a “freakout,” with Trump said to have “blew up” over another round of negative headlines surrounding his chief of staff. Wiles and her allies, meanwhile, were reportedly “burn[ing] up phones around town” to contain the fallout.

Trump subsequently made additional calls to allies about Wiles after reading the report, according to a person with direct knowledge.
