In the Peach State’s heated Senate election, Sen. Jon Ossoff has secured a victory against Rep. Mike Collins, extending his time in the upper chamber for a second term.

Decision Desk HQ projects Ossoff the winner with 70.3% of the vote compared to Collins’ 29.6%. By 8:07 p.m. EST, Ossoff had already received 1,203,464 votes to just 518,563 for Collins.

Ossoff, the Jewish incumbent senator from Atlanta, won the uncontested Democratic Party primary back in May, while Collins defeated Derek Dooley, a former football coach, in a runoff on June 16 following the state’s Republican primary in May.

The race has drawn attention across the country as Ossoff has thrown jabs at President Donald Trump and his administration for rising prices amid the ongoing war in Iran.

Ossoff has held his Senate seat since 2021, when he unseated then-incumbent Sen. David Perdue, a Republican.

Throughout the course of the race, Ossoff has remained in the lead, with a recent poll conducted by the University of Georgia having him going into Election Day with a 7-point advantage.

Ossoff sought to appease Democrats by attacking Trump, his administration, and even his opponent, Collins. He has continuously repeated the same line, seeking to appeal to people’s economic concerns through his jabs at Trump, saying, “It costs more than ever in American history to fill up your truck, stock your fridge, visit the doctor, or power your home.”

A former investigative journalist, Ossoff claims he seeks to “expose corruption.” Yet Collins sought to hold Ossoff accountable on his campaign funding, noting that a major Ossoff donor, Reid Hoffman, has ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the well-known convicted child sex predator.

Ossoff has also drawn on his previous achievements during his time in Washington, D.C., such as capping the cost of insulin for the elderly at $35 a month, exposing abuse in the state’s foster care system, and combating the online exploitation of minors.

While the incumbent senator boasted of his refusal to accept campaign contributions from corporate PACs or federal lobbyists,” Collins repeatedly called out Ossoff for his megadonors and massive out-of-state funding.

Ossoff begins his second term on Jan. 3, 2027.
