An individual has been hospitalized following a nonfatal shooting involving federal agents in New York City, according to the New York City Police Department.

The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. Thursday in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, the NYPD said. The police department said none of its officers were involved in the shooting and specified that the wounded individual is alive.

“The NYPD was not involved in the incident and was not on scene at the time of the shooting,” the department said. “The individual who was shot is at a nearby hospital and is currently conscious and receiving medical attention.”

The Washington Examiner contacted the Department of Homeland Security for further details on the incident.

The identity and immigration status of the suspect remain unknown at this time.

There have been multiple shootings involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers since President Donald Trump ramped up immigration raids and mass deportations last year.

Two U.S. citizens in Minnesota were fatally shot by federal immigration officers in January, and as recently as July, two immigrants were shot and killed during traffic stops in Texas and Maine, respectively.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he supports abolishing ICE in light of the recent officer-involved shootings. He has not yet commented on the Bronx incident.
