Buckle up for this one, folks. It’s pretty wild.
A few years ago, Minnesota awarded Salman Ahmed Elmi an “Outstanding Refugee” award for entrepreneurship.
He was part of a start-up company that got money from one of the stars of Shark Tank.
But, all the while Salman Elmi was (allegedly) defrauding taxpayers.
Last week, he was charged in a $1 million Medicaid fraud scheme — which was also connected to a sex trafficking ring!

But, wait — it gets even worse!
The exact same agency that once honored Elmi is also the one that gives out Medicaid payments.
This means that taxpayers funded Elmi’s award while he was stealing their money behind the scenes!
It’s truly beyond fiction.
