Within the past few weeks, violent unrest has swept across Europe, from Portugal to Italy. France has borne the brunt of the destruction, with communities disrupted, streets overtaken by violence, and businesses ransacked. One of the country’s historic landmarks, which has stood for 143 years, was reduced to rubble by flames.
The widespread violence in France is a direct result of a failed, out-of-touch government that has opened the country’s borders, undermined law enforcement, spent recklessly for endless bureaucratic expansion, and diverted government services away from its own citizens. Americans should pay close attention. What is happening in France foreshadows what can happen when a government loses sight of its most basic responsibility to serve and protect its own citizens.
Unfortunately, these warning signs are all too familiar. We have seen that chaos ensues when political ideology takes precedence over common sense, leaders undermine law enforcement, and taxpayers are robbed blind. Under the Biden-Harris administration, our southern border descended into a national crisis. Millions of illegal border crossings strained public services. Drug trafficking devastated families. Americans struggled with rising housing and rent prices linked to the influx of illegal aliens. People were left wondering whether the U.S. government actually worked for them.
In 2024, Americans sent a clear message that they wanted change. They wanted a secure border, safer communities, responsible spending, and a government that puts Americans first. Republicans have worked hard to deliver on this mandate.
Under the Trump administration, we have the most secure border in history, with 17 consecutive months of zero releases at the border. Without any Democrat support, Republicans passed the Working Families Tax Cuts Act to fund the completion of the border wall, modernize border security technology, and better support the immigration enforcement workforce. After Democrats also caused the longest shutdown in American history, Republicans secured funding for critical law enforcement agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection to ensure they can carry out their critical missions without further Democrat obstruction.
Securing the border and restoring law and order has made a huge impact on public safety, and American families are seeing the results. In 2025, violent crime plunged 9.3%, marking the largest annual decline on record. Robbery fell 18.5%, aggravated assault fell 7.2%, and property crime dropped 12.4%, which was the second-largest decline in history. Every decline represents fewer people victimized, fewer families traumatized, and fewer businesses forced to pay the price for lawlessness.
We stand to lose this progress if Democrats regain power. The party has only gotten more extreme since the days of the Biden-Harris administration, and they have increasingly embraced efforts to dismantle the very immigration enforcement system responsible for keeping the public safe. They passed a resolution urging Congress to wind down the immigration detention system and abolish ICE, which plays a critical role in investigating human trafficking, stopping financial fraud, and apprehending violent criminal illegal aliens.
Their shift toward these extreme policies reflects the growing influence of the socialist wing in their party. Democrats can try to distance themselves from socialism all they want, but their voting record shows that they are willing to bow a knee to these radicals. 192 Democrats voted against H.Res. 1490, refusing to condemn socialism.
OBAMA IS ‘TIRED OF BEING DIVIDED’: POT, MEET KETTLE
The Democratic Socialists of America has advocated sweeping changes to U.S. institutions that would completely destroy our way of life. Its broader agenda pushes for a fundamental restructuring of political power, prioritizing illegal aliens, weakening our law enforcement and military, and expanding government control, which would only endanger Americans, expand federal control over our lives, and impose enormous costs on taxpayers. A White House report estimates that their radical agenda would add $49 trillion to the federal deficit over the next 10 years, costing each American household roughly $355,000.
The stakes are too high for complacency. Americans deserve safe streets, secure borders, thriving communities, and a government that puts their needs first. Protecting those priorities requires an unwavering commitment to the rule of law. France’s unrest offers a stark warning that public trust is fragile, disorder can spread, and governments cannot take public safety for granted.
