President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he had offered the vacant White House press secretary job to UFC President Dana White.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States. I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris (sic),” the president posted on Truth Social.
“We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
The post included an image depicting White standing behind the podium in the White House briefing room, along with photographs of the six mixed martial arts fighters named as potential assistants.

Trump has maintained a longstanding professional and personal relationship with White. The president’s properties hosted a number of early UFC events when the promotion was in its infancy and struggled to gain approval from venues and athletic commissions, while White endorsed Trump’s 2016 campaign from the beginning and has spoken at the Republican National Committee on multiple occasions.
The president has also attended a number of UFC events over the last several years, both during his time in office and on the campaign trail. Most notably, the UFC hosted a historic six-fight event on the White House lawn earlier this year.
The press secretary role has been vacant since August, when Karoline Leavitt departed the position. Katie Zacharia subsequently held the job from October 12 to October 16, 2026, a five-day tenure that marked the shortest for any White House press secretary.
As of Saturday afternoon, White had not publicly responded to the announcement. The White House had not confirmed the offer or provided additional details regarding its status. Multiple news organizations reported that it remained unclear whether Trump’s statement constituted a formal offer or whether White had discussed the matter with the president.
The announcement occurred amid recent changes in White House staffing. On Friday, Trump announced that longtime adviser Stephen Miller would be taking over as White House Chief of Staff, replacing Suzie Wiles. Trump has hinted that additional changes could be coming.
