Jeffries Lashes Out After Democrat Congressman Stuns Party, Endorses Trump-Backed REPUBLICAN for Congress!

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is furious!

And after the full week of BACKSTABBING he just endured, what happened yesterday to the top Democrat in the House just adds insult to injury.

I don’t mean to “hide the ball” on this story — but, please allow me a moment to set the scene before we get to the nuts and bolts of the newest development.

I need to establish just how seriously rough this last week has been for poor Jeffries to really appreciate the emotional devastation he must be feeling! (Am I laying it on too thick?)

But, seriously — how many times in a single week can your own people turn on you!?

The recent streak started last Tuesday, when Jeffries’ House Democrats were positioned to STOP a Republican win on — among other things — giving the DOJ a permanent Fraud Enforcement Division:

BREAKING: HOUSE PASSES IT BY THREE VOTES. 214-211.

The gavel just slammed. The resolution is ADOPTED.

You may have noticed in that clip that the vote on H.R. 1530 PASSED, thanks to the help of 2 Democrats willing to crush Jeffries’ fraudulent hopes and dreams.

That was Tuesday.

Wednesday wasn’t much better for old Jeffries, because that’s when the House took up a vote on H.R. 5334 and passed it, as well — thanks to the same two Democrat backstabbers. (Much appreciation to you guys!)

And then, just two days later, Jeffries endured ANOTHER backstabbing — by the same two Democrats! (“Et tu, Brute?”)

That’s when House Democrats Jared Golden of Maine and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington REFUSED to knock down a Republican resolution CONDEMNING SOCIALISM:

And now that we’ve established the poor conditions recently endured by Mr. Jeffries…

Let’s get to what surely has his panties in a wad THIS week! (Sorry — I can hide neither my over the top excitement nor sarcasm at this point.)

In a nutshell, Democrat Jared Golden has taken his revolt against Jeffries and the Democrats to another level.

He dared to endorse a Republican over a Democrat for Congress, in Jeffries’ own state!

But not only that. He endorsed a TRUMP-BACKED Republican!

And you can bet Jeffries was FIGHTING mad, as reported by Fox News:

Jeffries hit back at Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, in a statement to Fox News Digital on Tuesday after Golden endorsed Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., a moderate Republican, for re-election in November.

“Mike Lawler is a partisan hack and Trump sycophant who Cait Conley will defeat in November. In desperation, he is peddling an 11th-hour endorsement from a retiring congressmember who represents an out-of-town district more than 400 miles away,” Jeffries said.

But Golden, who has broken from Jeffries multiple times in the past, argued Lawler was among the most bipartisan members of Congress.

“I know how bipartisan Mike Lawler really is. I know something about what that takes. I held the most challenging district of any Democrat in the country by earning the trust of Democrats, independents, and Republicans alike,” Golden wrote.

“I am leaving Congress in January by my own choice, but I have not given up on the institution, and voters should not either. The Congress we get is the one we elect, and the country needs fewer members who treat the job as a stage and more who treat it as work. In New York’s Hudson Valley this fall, that is the choice on the ballot,” Golden wrote.

Golden, who is retiring at the end of this year, is known for breaking from his party on a variety of issues. He was one of the only Democrats to praise President Donald Trump’s tariff efforts.

Now, I’ll be the first to say it. Let me call out the obvious giant elephant in the room.

Rep. Mike Lawler is not the bedrock of Trump loyalty, nor is he forged out of pristine MAGA-material.

Remember the SALT holdouts back during the first shutdown in 2025? Lawler was part of that.

But in terms of being a thorn in the Democrats’ side… he has been far more of a problem for them than he has for President Trump.

And he has President Trump’s full endorsement, partly, for that reason.

At any rate, Lawler’s Trump-supported reelection bid just helped create one of the BEST BACKSTABBING MOMENTS ever — even by Hakeem Jeffries’ standards! (And that’s really saying something!)

It’s not every day that a Democrat crosses that RED LINE and endorses a Republican on the leadership’s own turf!

But that’s what Rep. Golden did yesterday in a writeup designed to twist the proverbial political knife in Jeffries’ back.

Check out this story from Golden highlighting why he endorsed a Trump-backed Republican over a Democrat, as it appeared in Golden’s Op-Ed piece in The Journal News (owned by USA Today Network):

I spent eight years in Congress, and I won’t pretend they were easy ones. When I announced last fall that I would not seek reelection, I wrote about the incivility and plain nastiness that are now common in our politics, and about a Congress that too often rewards ego and division over patience and determination. I stand by all of it. But there is another side to the story, and before I leave office I want to tell it.

It starts with lobster. For decades, federal regulators have piled rules onto Maine’s lobstermen in the name of protecting the North Atlantic right whale. Our fishermen did their part and then some. They replaced 27,000 miles of floating groundline with sinking line. They cut the number of ropes in the water and rigged their gear with breakaway links built to give way rather than entangle a whale. Nobody has a bigger stake in a healthy fishery than the families whose livelihoods depend on it.

Then in 2021, the government issued a new round of restrictions built on worst-case assumptions instead of real data. A federal appeals court unanimously vacated those restrictions. Congress stepped in the next year with a six-year pause on new regulations and funding for better science. But the pause expires at the end of 2028, and the research it paid for still has not been fully worked into the government’s models. This year, I introduced the Northeast Lobstermen Protection Act to extend the pause through 2035 and to keep backing new gear technology, so that any new rules rest on the best available science rather than bureaucratic guesswork.

It is worth knowing who is leading that bill with me: Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican from New York’s Hudson Valley. There is not a single lobster boat in his district. He got no votes in this and no headlines back home. He signed on because a historic American industry, thousands of fishing families, and the principle that federal rules should be built on facts were all on the line. And he understands that in every community, not just in Maine, mom-and-pop shops have been around for generations, and their livelihoods make up the very foundation of our communities.

In July, our bill passed the House Natural Resources Committee with votes from both parties. And it just passed on the House floor with bipartisan support. That is how Congress is supposed to work: members of different parties set aside their disagreements, find a problem that matters to the country and fix it.

And it was not a one-off. Twice more in the past two years, when something needed doing and party lines stood in the way, I found Lawler across the aisle.

I am leaving Congress in January by my own choice, but I have not given up on the institution, and voters should not either. The Congress we get is the one we elect, and the country needs fewer members who treat the job as a stage and more who treat it as work. In New York’s Hudson Valley this fall, that is the choice on the ballot. Mike Lawler has been a true partner to me and a friend to fishing families he will never represent. I strongly back him, and I hope voters send him back to work. (Emphasis added.)

That’s only a small portion of the lengthy opinion piece Golden wrote in favor of Lawler’s reelection.

And honestly, good for both of them for putting the good of Americans above the overzealous environmentalism of the Democrats!

For his part, Lawler responded to the Democrat Congressman’s endorsement in kind.

Here’s part of his reaction, taken from Lawler’s campaign website:

“It’s an honor and a privilege to accept the endorsement of my friend, Democratic Congressman Jared Golden,” said Rep. Lawler, who has rolled out several cross-party endorsements from Hudson Valley Democrats in recent weeks. “While we are from different parties and different states, Jared and I have worked during our time together in the House to find common ground on issues that matter both to us and our constituents. We share a firm belief that what’s best for the people should come before one’s party, and that if more members on both sides of the aisle took that approach more often, the country would be better off for it.”

And as for that SALT (state and local tax) issue I referenced earlier, which Lawler was smack dab in the middle off… let’s revisit that for a moment.

Even then, Lawler was arguably creating far more friction and embarrassment for Jeffries than he was for President Trump.

I have to admit — I didn’t show that video with any intention of adding credit to Lawler’s account.

I did it as a frame of reference.

The man who embarrassed Jeffries on live TV to the point that Jeffries could only blubber his response…

Was just ENDORSED for reelection by one of Jeffries’ own Democratic thorns in his side!

Is that the very definition of poetic justice, or just pure irony?

I think I’ll just go with ‘political tragedy’ in a nod to Jeffries’ entire week of repeated backstabbing and outright revolt from within his own party.
